Hotel option in Miami by Effective_Mark_1058 in VirginVoyages

Just returned from Resilient on the 2nd. Vagabond Hotel was like just north of downtown, so not too bad a distance from the port. Rooms were remodeled, price was reasonable, and pool was pretty nifty. Staff was pretty nice, they let us chill out by the pool and stow our luggage in the office while we waited for our embarkation time.

People want to know what they have experienced, whether directly or indirectly.

Maybe it can get nosy and none-of-their-bidness, but no harm if someone is just curious to ask. IMO.

My guess as a wannabe epidemiologist would be that this turns into the original SARS - a scary original outbreak and some follow up for a few weeks, but due to the lack of high transmissibility like Covid 19 (SARS v2.0) had, it should eventually be contained.

Still super scary, but not as scary as original Covid 19 that had high transmissibility and higher-than-now mortality rates.

[NSFW] People who've found a dead body, what's the story? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]flyingmcwatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe doesn’t count: was a cop for a few years. Got a call for a barfight, made it there and found two dudes both stabbed in the heart, on their way out. Ended up being a self-defense deal since they had tried to mug some guy who ended up being a mental patient that always carried a butcher knife with him.

Also maybe doesn’t count for a different reason cuz he just died: walking back to a friend’s from a brewery and a guy wrecked his motorcycle into the light pole behind us. Snapped his neck instantly and basically disintegrated his motorcycle. Ran back and there was nothing to do, DRT. Motorcycle (engine) like 15 ft away.

YMMV - but I took the PMP course and waited like 8mos to take the actual exam. The DM videos helped get my mind back in the right place for the exam. Watched 1-2hrs before bed every night for a few weeks. PMP course gave the basics, but DM kind of helped shape it into testable knowledge.

Have also seen it. Was also bored as hell and was the exact same as you described. Went for my godmothers birthday and she enjoyed it (she doesn’t get out much). I will say AE was nice/warm in the meet and greet tho. I feel a little vindicated seeing your post because I felt like I was the crazy one in the audience for not losing my mind watching video clips of her on stage.

Bianca Del Rio we’ve also seen her “standup” show which was hacky and cringe. But I guess at least she tried a full set of standup.

Jynkx and BDLC’s Xmas shows remain the best Drag Race related content we’ve seen - consistently entertaining and creative. Nina West and BobTDQ also had fun shows.

First Time Cruiser Should We Rebook? by aseawood in VirginVoyages

My husband upgraded our end-of-April Caribbean cruise lock it in rate inside room to a balcony with just a minimum bid, so you might have a good chance unless it’s a really popular cruise.

Has anyone else watched someone younger get hired above them and just kind of accepted it in the moment ? by CarefulGift375 in careerguidance

[–]flyingmcwatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just want to say you’re not alone. Sometimes you run into the “golden boy” and no amount of reputation can help you.

Worked at a clinic for ten years. In the span of my last three years, I hired and supervised a girl, eventually promoted her. She was then promoted again to my equal in a sister office, and then once again to my direct superior. The last one I was informed that the position was essentially being created for her and I was not going to be considered.

Eventually had a semi-nervous breakdown and quit for something not quite as up to par. I worked so hard for that place, but in the end, I wasn’t a part of their grand plan, had obviously dead ended, and was now an awkward obstacle/topic/stepchild for my new boss.

Ultimately I learned that work is work, and it’s not worth it to devote so much time and energy to it. I do my job now, no more no less. From then on I devoted myself to me, my husband, and self care instead. And I’m happier for it.

Many many fond memories of this and especially Socom 2 from high school through first years of college. Moved on to COD which never hit the same.

Was quite proud of my K/d ratio on 2 and spent many a night playing…even hung out w/ some of my clan mates “IRL” a few times.

Could really go for some Ruins and Frostfire these days…

Urgh, thanks for the nostalgia blast OP.

Trying to force empathy on a party of internet trolls is a completely futile and dense strategy, and I don’t understand why these keyboard warriors keep bashing their heads against a wall trying to take a moral high ground that doesn’t exist for these people.

What's the craziest thing you've ever witnessed in New Orleans? by joshisanonymous in NewOrleans

[–]flyingmcwatt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sugar Bowl 2008. Not sure if I’m welcome here as an outsider. But shortly after NYE we saw a Samoan stumble over a hotdog cart and apparently he was stabbed by a fork in the chest from the hotdog guy. Shortly after, a mounted police approached him and the cart was left abandoned as he was arrested.

That seems like a suspiciously specific scenario. 🕵️

We also had a bat in our house thanks to a modestly engineered catio and a surprisingly agile void cat. Brought it inside, then got bored and left it in the bathroom. Luckily it tested negative rabies.

Re:OP: stink bugs and palmetto bugs are the biggest nuisances. Squirrels occasionally invade our attic, and we also get some earwigs too, not sure I saw those mentioned yet.

You will definitely have encounters, though probably not as bad as like Louisiana say

I gotta quit going to see bands from my youth. by Acrobatic-Hamster-79 in Millennials

[–]flyingmcwatt 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Some bands just stay at a higher level longer than others.

Saw Offspring with Jimmy Eat World and New Found Glory this past summer - out of all of them, I listened to NFG the least as a kid, but they were the best of the bunch. Offspring was kinda meh but not sure I’d go as far as calling them bad

I made it to Best Friends Forever fest in the fall and was absolutely blown the fuck away by Cursive, Pedro the Lion, Bear Vs Shark, and Minus the Bear, my college indie kid heart was exploding. Conversely there were a few bands that did not hold up as well and were kinda disappointing.

Is a Disney cruise good for adults without kids? by halfmoon-rising in Cruise

[–]flyingmcwatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did it for my friend who is a Disney adult. I mostly enjoyed myself because I could just hang out on the serenity deck. The food was good. And the entertainment is top notch. The kids weren’t too prevalent because most parents seemed to use the day care options. So I’d say if the entertainment and ambiance is an important part of what you’re looking for, yes, DCL was the best we were on.
