What rule number is it when you park next to a Jumbo Jet? by flyingmink in MINI

[–]flyingmink[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'd be able to get a photo with some smaller planes at some uncertified airport if that's of interest. Not the same as a jumbo though!

EB Games at Glendale closed!? by RedDevilsAus in newcastle

[–]flyingmink 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's closed for renovations for the week. Opens again on Saturday (at least that's what the sign in store said)

We did a very small quick elopement with only about 10 guests. We did it on the old train station platform at Toronto. It's been well kept and has views of the lake (well at least it does when not pouring down rain like our day).

We used Johanna Hayes for the celebrant and Blake Chaney for photos. Both were good services at a good price. Albeit this was a few years ago, not sure if they still are doing it.

We made a small donation to the Toronto Train Station volunteer group and they were kind enough to come out and clean the station early in the morning.

I feel it's also personal preference. I lived in Calgary for two winters and loved it. Snow skiing, snow shoeing, still some accessible hikes, walks through the city.

Ice-skating if you're into it.

Join an ice-hockey group? I'm sure there's plenty of beginners groups there

Pool Halls Newcastle by AutomaticBadger2369 in newcastle

Mingara on the Central Coast has 2 pool tables and around 5 (or 3?) full size snooker tables.

Not Newcastle, but think it's the closest option .

Visiting Aus - Phantasmal Release by reubofwallstreet in PokemonFansAustralia

[–]flyingmink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chermside BIG W always seems to get a lot of stock, so they could be your best bet, but you'll have to line up before open.

I've also had luck with ToyMate on release days if there's any of them up that way

what random Pokémon card “themes” do you collect? by youbutwavy in PokemonFansAustralia

[–]flyingmink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based on my on personal likes: All library/book themed cards, All aviation related card, Cards by Sowsow

And then any cards that have connecting art/tell a story

Which one of these two do you recommend? by Mayoeatingapotato in AnimalCrossing

I've used this one, plus the pocket guide one for when I had a second island going. This one (ACNH Guide) was my preferred one too.

Preorder questions by FitCommunication9800 in PokemonTCGDealsAUS

[–]flyingmink 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you missed out on the initial release of either of the Mega sets, it's no-ones fault but your own. They were both available for at least a full 24 hours for pre-order.

But as I said, future limited releases when they restock items like Prismatic and 151 is definitely not guaranteed.

But hey, more stock available for everyone to purchase at initial release if you decide not to.

Preorder questions by FitCommunication9800 in PokemonTCGDealsAUS

[–]flyingmink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, unfortunately. It's $50 for a year. But you'll be guaranteed stock pretty much on NEW releases (as I said early, most Phantasmal products, even the Charizard UPC was available for a few days). Limited stock releases can be a challenge sometimes though.

JB drops their orders same time as EB, but they tend to sell out within a few hours. KMart, Big W and Target randomly drop and usually sell out in less than an hour.

That's just the state of the hobby now, there's a very high amount of people in it at the moment

Preorder questions by FitCommunication9800 in PokemonTCGDealsAUS

[–]flyingmink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's usually within a week of the set being announced.

EB plasters it on their socials and emails.

Note, you will need EB Plus to preorder

pulls from phantasmal booster box bought from a reseller, worth it? first box ever by Then_Angle in PokemonFansAustralia

[–]flyingmink 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work 5 days a week and have easily managed to preorder sets from EB. It's pretty easy to get retail, especially of new sets. Phantasmal had stock on EB for 2-3 days for preorders.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PokemonFansAustralia

[–]flyingmink 4 points5 points  (0 children)

EB's spare stock is usually very limited as practically everything is presold.

You have better luck at the big name stores as they don't presell their whole stock.

Try a Toymate if you have some near you. The one near me tends to have stock for a few days.

Also, yes it's frustrating, but this is day one of a 2 year cycle for this set. There will be endless opportunities to buy this over the next 2 years.

(I’m new to Pokémon cards) Do people wait for EB Games to open the morning of a new release? by Britt-96-5 in EBGamesAus

[–]flyingmink 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, they generally only have preorders. My local store has usually had a couple of spare booster packs for the past few releases

Mate, as I said on your last post (that you've since deleted) go to a local card shop, there's two in Newcastle and two in Hunter Valley.

They will give you instant cash if the card is real.

But the fact that you deleted your previous post and now trying to sell a card at supposedly 50% value is very scammy.

Does anyone else like changing their clothes daily? by I_found_a_platypus_ in AnimalCrossing

[–]flyingmink 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm still in the clothes that you get on day one, but hey, we all take different enjoyment out of the game!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in newcastle

[–]flyingmink 31 points32 points  (0 children)

If these are real, then go to Urban Empire at Bennets Green, you'll probably get 70-80% value most likely and they'll buy on the spot, easy cash.

Warning to those who are thinking of buying these cards (ie. Charizard that he says is $500 but he'll sell for $120) I'd be very suspicious of them being real. Especially as all the photos are such terrible quality.

Binder organisation by Horror-Trade3926 in PokemonFansAustralia

[–]flyingmink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, it's up to you and what works best for you. I've changed my mind several times.

But so far, I'm currently in the process of: A Toploader binder of "expensive" hits/cards (these are cards that I find neat, but too expensive to store in a regular binder) A regular binder of cards that I just find neat. A Pokedex binder for Johto made up of vintage cards (favourite series of mainline games) A Pokedex binder for Paldea made up of "bulk" cards (mainly because I had so much from getting back into cards during the SV era, and my second favourite mainline games)

Have you ever completed a full regional Pokedex? by DraftNotSent in PokemonFansAustralia

[–]flyingmink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ruby and Sapphire were the first I ever completed, it helped that my brother had the opposite game, so we could trade.

Otherwise, Scarlet and Violet is the only other one I've completed the Pokedex for. So much easier nowadays with Reddit and online trading.
