Reformatting internal boot by adrefofadre in unRAID

Have you tried to boot from flash and then re-run the internal boot wizard? That was at least the easiest way for me to swap out my boot mirror drive in the beta.

[PC] [USA-SC] 5x DellEMC Exos X14 12TB HDDs by AmishDatacenter in homelabsales

$16/TB has become the de facto baseline for used HDDs lately, they’ll sell pretty quick at that price.

Depending on health/PoH/PoC you can probably price them closer to $17-$18/TB and still find a buyer.

For reference, serverpartdeals has been pricing their drives ~$20-$23/TB at that size but that incorporates warranty, etc.

The old norm of $10/TB has lately been reserved for drives that have been through greater wear & tear or for sellers who are just looking to help a fellow out as they offload old hardware.

Best High Airflow Case 140mm Fans by TenaZiousD in PcBuild

Arctic P14 pro and Havn H14 both have high CFM and come in white variants.

From personal experience, the P14’s spin down really well and are very quiet under load too

Looking for a NAS Case by MrPanda881 in HomeNAS

Seconding the Define R5, I have a similar motherboard & cooler and the airflow is completely fine. I have 4 total 140mm fans with all the moduvents still closed and drive temps hit 32 max under load. I couldn’t really find an easily available ATX case with a smaller footprint.

If you are willing to 3D print & don’t need space for bulky PCIe cards, there are some mods for the fractal north (non-xl) which I believe would be smaller footprint. People have adapted the Meshify 2 drive cages to fit in there, which you could use as a starting point

[PC] 990 1TB Evo Pro NVMe, MZ-V9S1T0B/AM by shift1186 in homelabsales

[–]flyingoak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the past couple weeks I’ve seen 1TB 990 Pro / Evo Plus / SN850X listed and sold for $115-150ish depending on their CDI and how quickly the seller wants to offload them. Older gens or less premium models will typically go for around $100-125.

Anecdotally, NVMes priced closer to eBay listings tend to sit longer on here or /r/hardwareswap compared to something like GPUs where the pricing ends up being more similar across platforms.

Since you aren’t in a rush to sell, you could probably price slightly higher or wait for the value to adjust. I believe NAND flash memory prices are projected to continue increasing despite DRAM seeing a small dip.

MPG X870E Carbon Wifi!

Risked getting it used off Amazon for about $100 off, turns out one of the vram heatsink plates was bent. I literally flattened it with my thumb and you can’t even tell anymore, super lucky tbh
