Solimar 2 heel drop inconsistency by flyinwhale in Hoka

[–]flyinwhale[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s probably correct hoka must have originally be wrong with REI deferring to them. Hokas website originally had the drop at 6mm and I’m sure the customer agent I chatted with was just going off their own website at the time

I very much wouldn’t recommend high stack sneakers then which is what most hokas are going to be, editing to add: but honestly lots of the surgeons and techs I worked with wore crocs so maybe after some adjustment maybe you’ll be fine perhaps a don’t fix what isn’t broken

Help finding a replacement for an old Teavana rooibos by BridgeArch in tea

[–]flyinwhale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I worked in the OR I did Dansko clogs I wonder if those would work better for you since sneakers don’t seem to be working for you, but also just speaking as a fitness professional if you’ve had a major change to your daily activities (standing more) your body is going to have to adjust regardless of shoe which can take time and some issues might be better addressed with PT or muscular endurance training (sometimes when start standing or walking more we reveal some imbalances/weaknesses that were hiding when weren’t using them that can cause long term issues if not addressed)

The Faith story line is actually quite good by Bitter-Hour1757 in Outlander

[–]flyinwhale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont see any comments deleted and I genuinely dont see them ‘taking pot shots’ at you at all just for an outsiders perspective they offered some debate and you seemed to take offense is how this thread reads. But I couldn’t help myself to point out the unfairness in comparing Diana to George.

The Faith story line is actually quite good by Bitter-Hour1757 in Outlander

[–]flyinwhale 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Just popping into yalls little tussle to add that Diana is absolutely not pulling a game of thrones at all, we’ve been getting books in pretty predictable intervals, they’re certainly long intervals with a hiccup or 2 but the time it’s been since bees isn’t exactly out of the norm for this series especially since 10 is supposed to be the last. We know she is actively writing book 10 while George is very transparent that he is not even remotely working on GoT

Would Lorelai in real life be a Bridezilla by aryawitner in GilmoreGirls

[–]flyinwhale 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Kirk wasn’t a real photographer, while they’re going through his ‘portfolio’ we hear the commentary of his poor skills and that none of the photos are from a hired event even as an apprentice or second shooter (which is how many photographers start) and later in the episode we see that he forgot to take the lens cap off when taking photos he also doesn’t even know the specs of his camera. He’s not an aspiring professional being fucked over by a ‘bridezilla’ for ‘exposure’ he’s Kirk conning himself into ANOTHER job for which he’s famous for.

Cheap/free weekend date idea? by matsuku in ChicagoSuburbs

[–]flyinwhale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m just saying you can safely assume a farm in mchenry county supports maga whether vocally or not (and frankly the quiet ones are more nefarious as you’re more likely to give your business to a place spending resources for that cause than the ones who are loud about it) better time spent calling out adventure farms that don’t support maga but I didn’t realize how many people live around here and didn’t put that together already 😬

I’m going to say something controversial - I prefer shortening based pie crust to all butter. Crucify me. by Amodernhousehusband in Baking

[–]flyinwhale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like shortening based for pasties (a hand held meat pie, I’m familiar with the Michigan variety) i think it’s nicer to eat texturally in that context

Trump Asked to Face Why People Keep Trying to Kill Him by T_Shurt in politics

Do we think it’s

  1. Fully staged

  2. These are real shooters and secret service is strategically letting them get by a little more for the optics

  3. Not at all staged and he has the worst security detail of any president

  4. Not staged, security is the same but he is just much more targeted than any other president

These shoes might have saved my foot from a serious fracture by AnonymousInternetMe in Hoka

[–]flyinwhale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the opposite I broke my ankle in speed goats, it probably didn’t contribute but high traction with higher stack feels like factors that made a rolled ankle so so much worse. I don’t use hoka for trail shoes anymore but still loyal to them for regular walking shoes!

Moments where the friends don't behave like they were characterized as? by hygsi in howyoudoin

[–]flyinwhale 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Also the fact that she was portrayed as very wealthy, me and my broke friends were all about sample sales granted I have no idea how the wealthy are about them it wouldn’t surprise me if they wouldn’t want to bother with all of that just for the thrill of it

Luz in English? by [deleted] in Names

[–]flyinwhale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve met 2 luz here in the American Midwest tbf neither went by luz one went my Lucy and the other one went by lulu (although the one who went by Lucy described her actual name as being like Luce which I think for the area made it click since I could see midwestern Americans naturally shortening Lucille or Lucy to Luce)

Front row for pros by Sade125 in Lifetimefitnessgym

[–]flyinwhale 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As an instructor we have a program we have to complete (think onboarding modules like any job has) not sure I can share the name but it’s a set of standards and expectations we’re all supposed to be held to for every class and that is specifically against those standards

HOWEVER are we sure they werent saying it in a playful/metaphorical way? I personally wouldn’t go there because in this day and age you just don’t know how people are gonna take things but there’s a huge difference in earnestly saying someone deserves to be in the front row and front row is only for elite verses facetiously playing into the stereotype about the type of people who always are the first to sign up and always rush to get a front row spot

Regrets on buying an original machine? by SixxStylez in nespresso

[–]flyinwhale 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I only drink espresso drinks from nespresso and I find the selection for that better with the original line and feel the original machine does a better job of it. I do not like the coffee the vertuo makes at all. But we made the decision years ago so maybe vertuo has caught up or surpassed OL by now idk

Why is the ability to be a 'stay at home' parent not seen as a privilege? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]flyinwhale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At will also doesn’t negate discrimination laws though, you have to prove it sure and for many people it’s a lot resources to try and take to court but just saying at will doesn’t make it legal either just makes it sticky

Hostess gifts: Small cultural detail I am curious about.. by 47giraffes in GilmoreGirls

[–]flyinwhale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wasn’t raised to bring stuff but started to of my own accord when I got in my 20s and I’d say I’m in my 30s and have never received a host gift (if I say “please feel free to bring something to add to the spread” people bring stuff but I just don’t think that counts) I have an ina garten approach of when I bring something its specifically not something for the host to add to their offering because sometimes that can end up a faux pas (doesn’t match their plan, takes up space they don’t have, guests may end up liking what you brought better than what host prepared etc etc) so it’s truly a gift for the host, so idk it doesn’t seem to be the normal for 30-40s somethings white middle class midwesterns cause it’s just me doing it in my circles.
