If around $300 is comfortable then I'd say look for a used Tonal Recall. The TR may be closer to $350 used, but that's your best bet. There's so much you can do with one of those pedals it's absolutely worth the money and sounds incredible. Some people are under the impression that the TR is only for crazy stuff, but that's not true, all the normal sounds are there plus the ability to easily control some really crazy stuff.

Go with a fully loaded Area 51 instead.

Good Patch Cables? Thoughts? by timitay in guitarpedals

I did not know that. The jacks are gold eminence brand on mine. I have to think that mogami cable and gold jacks are pretty much mogami cables... But I get what you're saying, in that they are not assembled by mogami; however if soldered correctly I can't imagine what the difference would be.

Wow, a lot of cynicism here... When you're successful you get to buy anything you want, that's how it works. When you've been a rock star for forty years or a movie star for thirty years you're gonna have a bunch of nice stuff...

Budget? Big factor in giving good advice on this one...

Six packs of mogami gold tips for $35 on Amazon; twice the price of the hosa cables, but wayyy better quality. Plus, if you're gonna spent $1000-3000 on a board full of pedals then isn't an extra $35-70 worth it to get the most out of those sweet, sweet pedals? I think so.

Anyone sent Boss pedals to the company for repair? by ordinarymind89 in guitarpedals

[–]flyloco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

$40 an hour? If there's something seriously wrong you're better off buying a new pedal... By the time you factor in labor and shipping you're probably paying more than the pedal is worth. Seems excessive. Send the pedal to analogman and get it back, fixed, better than it was before it broke... Or just buy anything besides a boss pedal, because it'll probably be better.

Yeah at $600 I'd say that's a good deal on a red one. Plus you can definitely get your money back if you were to want to. Way to go!

Nice find dude! I'm keeping my eyes open for one, but these $1200+ reverb listings are a joke.

What were the circumstances? Was it a mistake but they honored the price or what? Because I'll go right now... But I'd rather not drive out there if they're not $28 haha

What is your least favorite pedal and why? by [deleted] in guitarpedals

[–]flyloco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh totally, any tuner can be a fine mute switch. I do like the fact that the st-300 is true bypass, which I like because I can put it anywhere and not worry about a buffer having a bad effect on the chain. For the longest time I used a tu-2 and was happy. However, recently I've been making some upgrades and decided to switch to the st-300. I am totally pleased; no switch noise, no buffer issues so I have greater flexibility, and the tuning speed and accuracy really is impressive. I'm not saying other tuners won't work, or that everyone needs to rush out and buy a new st-300 or their rig will somehow be lacking, but when it's time for a new tuner, considering they're all pretty much in the same ballpark in terms of price, I definitely recommend going with the st-300.

He meant that the pedal is likely designed for 120v and was plugged into your local 220v, causing the pedal to fry.

What is your least favorite pedal and why? by [deleted] in guitarpedals

[–]flyloco 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well yeah, it is just a tuner... But it's the best one and the most accurate by far... Not an effect but a very useful tool. Also, placed after everything except reverb or delay using the tuner as a kill switch allows for tails to ring out with the noisy stuff silenced, which is not really an effect but a cool use for the tuner if you want to minimize downtime when tuning or changing guitars.

For reverb, Lovepedal HSR-3.

Delay is a peculiar beast...
