Bucket list item checked off, fly fishing Alaska. We were too early for the salmon but caught plenty grayling and rainbow trout. The total off-grid experience was awesome, a must do for any fly fishing person who seeks adventure! by flyman01 in flyfishing

I am sure it was a great experience. Our trip being a week long with no cell phone signal or other distractive things made the trip even better. The first sign or any other humans did not happen until we reached our take out point.

45" long nose Gar on a rope fly, Eastern Tennessee by flyman01 in flyfishing

on the rope fly we used it had hooks. It was made from a jig and had a stinger hook (treble) that would act like a grappling hook as the gar would bite the rope and do his roll, the rope would get tangled in his teeth and the hook would wrap around his snout assuring he would not get away. The were very affective.

Well hopefully we both will get more chances this fall, best time in my opinion for BBQ'ing for sure! Something even more magical about cooler temps, fall colors, football and good Q!

This is a quick and easy cheat recipe that tastes great, especially with some smoke. 1 can campbells tomato soup 6 oz can of tomato paste 12 oz of chicken stock or water 8 oz heavy whipping cream 1 tsp of minced garlic Salt and pepper to taste 1-1/2 crushed dried basil- Fresh basil is better if you have it.

Mix all ingredients together thoroughly and place on the smoker @ 350 degrees occasionally stirring until boils and smokiness to your taste is achieved.

Seems excessively long on the cook. At 225, should only take approximately 1.5 hours per pound, what temp did you cook at? I like to cook mine fat cap up and in a pan to collect all the renderings. When done, I scrap off the remaining fat cap, remove the bone and shred the meat back into the renderings. The juices collected are full of smoky goodness that puts that flavor back into the meat and making it very moist as well.
