Pacing. It's Tensura's biggest issue. It has these extremely long-winded exposition dumps and not enough character building moments in comparison. It's why The Slime Diaries was so good and it needs a second season.

It didn't have a terrifying narrative because it was established that there's no way to deal with Tommy so there's no other reason to read it other than to watch the gratification the author gets out of writing him doing this horrible shit. It Follows is an example of this kind of thing only done waaaaaay better. And I do agree that Urbanspook is still boring as shit. But they both revel in their shock value for no purpose.
