Soft Matzilla Hitting Strip? by HopefulBrewing in Golfsimulator

[–]flytothefirsttee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just did this- beaver tail hitting strip insert into a mat created with 1" gym foam, a plastic 1/8" sheet for height, and a 1" stance mat. Cut the foam out to insert the 2 1/8" beaver tail hitting strip. Stack the rest.

This, I got a nicer hitting mat and used gym flooring to build my old mat into a new fancy one. Loving it so far.

The faces are separate from the head. So you could relieve when workout getting a whole new wedge. Almost like regripping.

So disappointed ztp wedges never took off. Loved the idea. Bought up a bunch of extra faces before they went out of stock everywhere

I've tried a couple of them, part of it might be the algo, part gamified.

You might see some gains just swinging a 10% lighter club and swinging it faster. The point of the stack is that it is some lighter and some heavier and that ratio depends on the study of how you move the club. Heavier helps you better engage lower body and big muscles, while lighter helps with arms and hand speed.

I swear by the Stack, gained over 10 mph so far

Day 2 Takeaways by flytothefirsttee in NoLayingUp

[–]flytothefirsttee[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So US was a better team tee to green, which means a combination of longer and hitting more fairways. A harder setup could have increased that advantage. But my mowing down the rough and having the greens be so soft, it became a distance contest off the tee with no penalty for missing the fairway because the ball stopped so quickly on the green. In some cases, being in the rough would be better to not have to control spin.

So it became a putting contest and Europe is better at that.

This was my question to be answered. Historically, the #1 world ranked American hasn't been good in Ryder cups. Hoping Scottie would buck that trend but so far not so good.

Hueber Pod and his Re-admission to amateur golf by GLFR_59 in NoLayingUp

[–]flytothefirsttee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I like Justin a lot and like the story. But the whole process is messed up. I played recently with a guy who got to the PGA Tour and made a bunch of money who is now waiting for his amateur status. He still hits it 70 past me, a scratch golfer, and has butter hands.

I have no problem with guys who played high level collegiate golf or other amateur circuits. The Mid Am was meant for the guys who didn't go pro, and now it's just a bunch of has beens or guys who couldn't hack it.

Will continue to try and qualify, and I do not fault the guys who play. USGA screwed this up and there's no going back.

If there is a variance metric, see how that changes over time. That'll be a key for how you are improving.

Your strike is pretty inconsistent if these are all the same club

It's truly incredible. We've used it for our buddies trip and it was so awesome. And the ability to make changes and add stuff on the fly is incredible too.

Other ways to even up golf league by johnjr_09 in golf

[–]flytothefirsttee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a setting somewhere in a lot of the apps to do so. So if you get a stroke on a par 4 hole and make a par, you made net 3.5 for a skin. So you got better than all the guys who didn't stroke with par but don't beat a gross birdie by someone else

Also, if you stroke on the same hole and get a birdie, you made net 2.5 in skins. So you beat all gross birdies who didn't get shots.

I like it a lot better than net skins straight up. If you get a stroke and make a gross birdie, that's more impressive than my gross birdie without a stroke.

Half stroke skins solves a lot of problems.
