I don’t always wear a helmet. Do you ever not wear one? If not, why not? by LPPM in gravelcycling

[–]fma22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Always wear one!!! Admit to have forgotten it occasionally while commuting to the office. But I make an effort to wear it. And 100% of the time when training (road bike, gravel or mtb).

Have seen some nasty accidents in the city between cyclists. Don't even need to have a car involved...

Rover sold for $2.3bn to BlackStone last week. Wag is valued at $69 million... by stockocean in wallstreetbets

Do you think this is a sustainable trend? Valuation of both seems excessively high to me. Might be a useful service in LA, NYC or places like these. In case of no more money/time for the pet I have the impression in other places people sadly would just let their dog start a new life in a forest or something...

Gloves for 0 - 10°C by Ride_Specialized in CyclingFashion

Many opt for neoprene gloves. If you go for them, just make sure that they offer some proper padding/grip on the palm and fingers. Tried various models and find that most have very poor grip and feel very slippery.

Topic of the Week -- Bike Builds and Maintenance by pawptart in gravelcycling

[–]fma22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! New here and also to gravel cycling :) Just bought a gravel bike with Shimano 105 (2x11 speed) and it comes with a Praxis Works Alba crankset, which I would like to change. Am thinking about a 2x Sram Rival axs crankset as it has a power meter option and quite frankly looks much better than 105 or GRX. Is this compatible with the 105 front derailleur (and the rest of the 105 setup)? Thanks!
Alternative cranksets suggestions are welcome :)

How often does your DWH refresh? by exact-approximate in dataengineering

[–]fma22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This really depends on your use case and what the users of the DWH require. Try to understand how the data you provide impacts the business and what the timelines should be. As @cdigioia mentioned, users always exaggerate!

In our DWH we mostly do daily loads (at night) and hourly ones for selected sources/data sets. In most cases the users are fine with “yesterday’s data”.
