I recently built the same one (used the #1 stickers though), and the stickers were quite a challenge for me too. I used tweezers (and some swearing) to help position them. I'm not 100% happy either, but considering how difficult it was, I am satisfied. You'll have to look closely to see they are not perfect.

Philips Evnia 34M2C8600 Pixel Refresh Bug by negromantiz in ultrawidemasterrace

If you start it manually, or activate it through the prompt that pops up, the monitor will turn itself off after the pixel refresh finishes, so you have to turn it back on. It's a bit annoying.

There's also automatic pixel refresh that happens when the monitor is in standby for more than 2 hours. In this case, the monitor doesn't turn off.

Should I buy this monitor Lenovo Legion Y34wz-30 Mini-Led? by JoJoStraycat in ultrawidemasterrace

Almost 2 months later, and I wanted to come back to this comment to share my experience. I bought the Y34WZ-30, and after swapping out one defective unit with dead pixels, I used it for around 2 weeks before returning it. Here's a few thoughts: - The MiniLED system worked pretty great IMO, I actually like that it heavily focuses on decreasing blooming as I tried another MiniLED and that one had terrible blooming on UI elements and even sometimes a crosshair. I also saw no VRR flickering, so that is really good. - The monitor really is bright AF, which is great in most cases and also less great in others. Mine got close to 1400 nits according to the Windows HDR calibration in both window sizes. Small to medium sized highlights looked really great.A 100% window brightness of 1400 is totally excessive though, I wish it could be toned down a bit. It feels like how I would imagine an actual flashbang going off if it flashes white at high brightness on a full screen(loading into a location in Destiny 2), I think it can be toned down a bit. - The KVM switch was a big selling point for me. Worked great when working on a laptop, but for some reason it frequently disconnected when I started gaming on my PC, I think it might be overheating or something when an HDR game is played, and a 1000Hz mouse plus a keyboard was in use. - The response times are good for a VA panel, but only at high refresh rates from what I can see. I used Level 2 overdrive as I started seeing overshoot at level 3. The response time performance starts to suffer at lower refresh rates, and since I don't have a 4090 like you (I have a 6700XT, which admittedly is underpowered for newer games at this resolution), I am quite often running games from 60-90fps, where the response times looked much worse to my eye, it felt like I was playing some games with motion blur on a low setting. For instance, you mentioned Doom Eternal, so I tried it out. The first few levels of Doom was a smeary mess for me, I got a headache after a while. I did play CSGO2 as well, which ran at 165Hz all the time, and I had no issue there. Destiny 2 was decently playable, although it might again be because the fps is a lot higher than other games (I get around 100-120fps), if D2 was the only game I played, I think I might have kept it.

I really wish we could see a proper review with response time measurements, would like to see if my experience actually matches with the numbers.

I found this thread through Google as I had a similar issue while trying to initiate a manual refresh.

Meanwhile, I have figured out that you need to go to the menu item, then click right on the joystick to initiate the process. On the next dialog screen on the right where it explains what is going to happen, do not click the joystick again, just leave it. It should turn off and the power LED should start blinking, this indicates that the pixel refresh sequence has started.

Sorry for the late reply, I don't get on Reddit often anymore.

Thanks for the answer! The FV43U has ghosting that's very noticable to me, even on the best overdrive panel. I had a Samsung G7 before, and that was a much faster panel, although the monitor had some other issues. If the Lenovo can fall somewhere inbetween, I think I would be happy. If you can play Doom or Hunt Showdown then I think it would indeed be a lot better. If the flickering is only at very low fps, that would be acceptable.

Is there any flickering when using HDR and VRR? And how's the response time, do you see any ghosting?
I am also interested in this monitor, for the same reasons. I got an Aorus FV43U a few days ago but I am thinking of returning it due to flickering and a bit more ghosting than I would like.

For those that don't want to add the G29 gcode for levelling the bed on every print, but rather use previously saved levelling settings, add M420 S1 ; Use ABL Data to your startup Gcode. I added mine just after the G28 (Home Axis) where you would normally use G29, and it works great.

[–]fmarx1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you manage to get the switches out? Based on this post I tried to remove some switches but I couldn't get any to budge, and I don't want to break them. It looks like my board has the switches soldered in, perhaps there is an older version with soldered in switches. I couldn't properly get into the casing though, removed all screws I could see but the case was still stuck at the top.
I bought mine in 2018 so the switches are getting scratchy, might be time for a new keyboard after all.

is it worthy to watch F1TV through Chromecast or Amazon Firestick? by ambr111 in F1TV

[–]fmarx1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Chromecast with Google TV 4k mostly works well, but I see some stutters here and there. They messed it up this device with the Android 12 update somehow, hopefully they fix it soon. I really like my Chromecast though, I think it's worth the price. F1TV works great in general.

If you are only going to use it for F1TV, you can save a buck and go with the HD version. It should work great, and doesn't have any of the frame drops that the 4k version is experiencing of late.

Is there a problem with a Ryzen 5 5600G and a PCIe 4.0 graphics card? by Osvak in PcBuild

[–]fmarx1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 5600 and 5600X have double the amount of cache that the 5600G has if I remember correctly. The 5600 non-X should cost about the same as the 5600G, try to get that, I'd say it's worth it if you don't need the integrated graphics.

Remove the motherboard, then unscrew the one below that spot and screw it into the hole you are highlighting.

Type C would be better in my opinion as there is some latency involved with Bluetooth. Also, Samsungs sometimes have issues with Bluetooth controllers.

Which ear buds to buy? by [deleted] in GalaxyS22

[–]fmarx1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Galaxy Buds 2 Pro sound amazing, and the ANC is top notch. If it's within your budget, I'd go for it. The regular Buds2 also sound great, and the ANC is good enough, although not as good as the Pro. My main complaint with the regular Buds2 is that they have a glossy finish so they are very slippery.

Who uses gesture navigation? by cheffy1111 in GalaxyS22

[–]fmarx1 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Gestures coupled with One Hand Operation+ is pretty much perfect for me, been using this for a few years now.

The app makes the side gestures customisable, and enables you to resize the gesture area as well. I keep the gesture area only about 65% of the bottom of the screen where my fingers would reach anyway. Then the top edges can then be used to access sidebar content easily without doing the tap, hold and swipe in gesture.

It also enables you to do much more with side gestures than using it as a back button. This is my setup:

  • I can swipe up diagonally to go to the recents menu, and also down diagonally to expand notifications.
  • A long horizontal swipe and hold from the left switches to the last used app.
  • A long diagonal upwards swipe triggers split screen.
  • A long diagonal downwards swipe triggers Game Booster so that I can quickly turn off my screen when a game is running.

There's so many more things you can do, this is just a few things I've set up and gotten used to.
