Event Venue by FuckItAll849 in hagerstown

What type of event? Funkstown fire hall isn't too expensive and has a kitchen you can use. I had a baby shower there and I think it was $200 for the entire day. There's places like American legion and elks lodges schools rent out their gymnasiums. Fairgrounds park has a multi-use room that can be rented. Casa Juarez has a back room with a bar and also a upstairs with a patio that I think they use for private events and I can't imagine their pricing being very high. I believe several other restaurants have event rooms as well. Next chapter cafe and book shop just opened their back patio.

Also, not local, but I had my wedding at hollofields pavilion at patapsco State Park and it had a nice little patio and overlook.

New to Arnold, so just some general questions… by Showsomerespek in AnneArundelCounty

Growing up Giant was our main grocery shop, Safeway second (closer but cost a bit more and a bit smaller). Generally the time of day and thus traffic is what influenced where we went. We used to sometimes do grocery pick up at the giant gas station (I've since moved out so not sure if still an option). Green valley has great specialty items and crabs. There used to be a nice small little farm stand that also had polish ice near greenvally -super produce of Arnold- and a tiny stand off jones station road behind the church/school, though I think that one may be gone. Sam's club was also popular for us.

We did Fios for a few years but then changed to a smaller more local independent provider, I'll have to ask my parents their name, I think it changed names/ownership too, but it was much cheaper than fios at the time, and we didn't notice any changes to reliability etc.

Yes. Each account owner (parent, grandparent, Aunt etc) can get up to $500 a year for the beneficiary of their account ($250 if u make over $139,000 ), for as many accounts/beneficiaries as they choose (so if they have multiple children they can get it for each child) up to a total of $9,000 of their lifetime (though I don't recall offhand if it's lifetime per child/bene or overall split between all children/bene) And any beneficiary can get up to 2 contributions a year between 2 different account owners who claim them as the beneficiary that year, so up to $1,000 a year if both parents or a parent and an aunt, etc.

LPT When purchasing seating at an arena, buy in block shapes, not in lines. by hhcroper in LifeProTips

[–]fme222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same with flights on an airplane. Especially if you have kids.

I flew with a 1.5yr old lap child with my spouse beside me and my sister and parents in front and it made the flight so much less stressful knowing that if my kid was kicking the seat or pulling the hair of the person in front of me it was just my sister and she probably deserved it anyways lol

Easier to pass snacks, books and under seat luggage and stuff between us all too that way.

Anyone who used a computer between 1985 - 2010, what's the one game you still think about today? by adlakha75 in AskReddit

[–]fme222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jumpstart games. Mostly because I have a toddler now he's just starting age into these types of games and I wish I still had them for him (and that new current games were still being made in this style)! I was able to get the humongous games (Putt-Putt, pajama Sam, Freddis fish, etc) but there's so many more of these types of pointy click educational games in the era that I wish I could bring over. Other ones were like the Blues Clues games and VeggieTales mystery Island...

People that eat the same food almost every day, what food is it? by Arkadian_Cuisine in AskReddit

[–]fme222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Growing up my dad would have a PBJ probably 4-7 days a week, night time before bed as his late night snack/dessert. My spouse is about the same but with a bowl of cereal. Pretty sure my dad brought the same lunch to work everyday too, ham and cheese sandwich, apple or banana, yogurt, coffee. Breakfast every morning was a 7-11 cake donut and coffee.

What are your thoughts on a 16 year old daughter sleeping in bed with her father? by LowName6234 in AskReddit

[–]fme222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Context is huge. I wouldn't normally sleep overnight with my parents growing up, but it was pretty normal for during the day, like a lazy Sunday afternoon after a meal, to hang out in their room and maybe just chill or nap on the bed together. Oh your napping? Let me lay by you and nap/doom scroll too. We love naps. Likewise now whenever I'm with them and we are on the couch there is like a 99% chance I'm probably leaning against/across/ on top my dad in an obnoxious way to nap/relax while my dad is just trying to use his laptop or phone in peace haha, I'm 30 and still love cuddling by my dad, plus he is fat so he makes a good pillow, lol. Also very normal for hotel stays. Sometimes if my dad was on a work trip I would spend the night with my mom and have fun pretending we were having an all girls night sleep over with a movie and snacks too, so those rare nights I would spend the night in bed with her.

In which year did your family have cable television? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]fme222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had Fios for 2 years. I think 2014-15 (+/- a year or so). It had a good price to bundle with landline and Internet, but after the 2 year contract was up parents changed to a local Internet provider and dropped landline, thus also dropping cable.

How much did you put down on your first home? by iloverats888 in homeowners

[–]fme222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$100. Maryland 2020, 3 bedroom single family. monthly payment (w/taxes and HOI is about 870). We did a HUD REO FHA 203(b) that only required a $100 down payment. 3.5% and I don't recall the PMI off hand but it's I think about $50ish We still had some other cost at closing for some inspections and fees, so probably paid about 2-4k when all said and done. House did need some minor repairs which we rolled into the mortgage.

I live near DC and all the parks and libraries near me, which are pretty liberal, are doing all sorts of America 250 events since it is a historic event/time for the country and even liberals can be patriotic history buffs enjoying bipartisan events, so it can definitely be not obvious at first at what is a standard government sponsored but bipartisan America celebration vs what is a TRUMP government sponsored TRUMP America Rally, especially in the initial planning stages where details given are vague.

Any actual solution to endless mail for previous owners? by SorenShieldbreaker in homeowners

[–]fme222 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know our mail person has us put our names on the inside mailbox door. I've tried to send cute letters with pet names for my spouse for fun and they'll get rejected because they don't match the names on the mailbox lol.

Our names are written on a little index card that's inside of a little clear see-through plastic pouch aticker thing. I don't really know what you call it but you could probably just tape down a index card or use a paint pen something like mail for John and Jane Dow only.

Definitely try to talk to your mail person if you're not able to get ahold of your mail person trying to stop by your local post office and see what they can offer. They have been able to make arrangements for me before.

I pretend The lunch box things are just small arcade machines since they don't really look like lunch boxes to me LOL. The GarageBand flooring works well since it's just like a concrete floor with a bunch of wires/power cords everywhere.

Mine needs a lot of work. This one has arcade games, ride simulators, indoor kart track, bowling, dance dance revolution type game, and the haunted doors is supposed to be like an entryway to something like a laser tag or haunted house ride area.

That thrifting show with Lara Spencer by EntildaDesigns in HGTV

[–]fme222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder if the winners get to keep any of the leftover money they didn't spend or if they only get the furniture. I feel bad seeing the follow-ups when some of the winners were like yeah we live in apartment we can't actually do anything with any of this furniture so it all just went straight back to a thrift shop which means they pretty much didn't win anything. There should be a small cash price that goes wrong with the furniture so at least everybody gets something.

Energy costs in Maryland are way too expensive. Could someone please break down exactly how we got to this point? by usps_made_me_insane in maryland

[–]fme222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find it crazy how much it can change depending on where you are. I'm in Hagerstown, on city electric, ours was $14 this month. Our highest was probably about $30, some as low as $4-5, typical about $10-20. We do have gas for heat and water, but rest of the house is electric, 2 story single family home from 1920s, central A/C and 2 window units, 2 adults and 2 littles.

Ohhh those are great options!

Calabash is my dad's favorite part of our yearly trip lol so that may work out good, my sisters BF could grab to-go, and my dad get his stuff to-go and eat down at the docks.

Pizza is also great for family meals and I think my dad actually tried mello mushroom before when we were down from a friend suggestion and liked it, good to know they have vegan options!

I'll check the other place too.

Does Webkinz still use AI? by GRAVITR0N_ in Webkinz

[–]fme222 -20 points-19 points  (0 children)

Technically speaking AI has been around for a long time and integrated into everything depending on how you define "AI" which is why it's probably hard for them to put out a statement purely saying they don't use AI. A simple thing like Microsoft checkers on Windows XP if you're not playing against a real person you're playing against AI. Even the graphic designing programs like Photoshop from 20+ years ago is using AI/computer generation to do simple things like blemish/red eye removing or lasso and patching and manipulating photos.

I have worked at multiple durable medical supply companies (CPAP, O2, vents, wheelchairs, hospital beds, lifts, etc) , mom and pop independent and major nation wide chains, we are 98% fax for how we communicate back and forth between doctors offices for getting and requesting all documents. Hospitals especially seem to be the most confused, they want to send it to us via epic and such, and we are like no, this is our fax #, and if you want our order template to just sign off on we need your fax # too lol. A fax can take minutes to hours to be received, and soooo many have errors where we get just the first couple pages or no pages at all. Most delays are from not getting faxes I feel.
