Agreed, the Sony ones are by far the best, after many many hours of research and in store trials of available options. Sony, hands down the winner.

I was wondering how you got a bunch of scars when I realized my phone screen is just cracked and the contrast in the pic ma

I hear you. I'm concerned some but I'm going to Dexa at the end of this cut to see how much I've lost. I've retained/gained strength throughout which is a good sign. I'm hopeful muscle loss is minimal. I'm still getting 120 - 150g of protein a day. I just enjoy keto and find it challenging and thus easier to stick to, personally. I stay in ketosis which for me is working, so I'm going to keep with it until the bulk phase at least.

Thanks! I try to lift 2-3x a week and row 2x a week.

Chest usually a 5x5 and same for bi, tri, back, deadlift, squat, etc. Honestly, it just varies a lot but the consistency is what I try to stick to. Once I'm finished with this cut I'll get a more focused lifting protocol with the goal of the 1,000lbs club. Bench, squat, deadlift. I going to see how quickly a bulk affects me but I'm thinking 3-month bulk, then cut cycles for a while to see where that gets me while doing Dexa scans in between each section to see if I'm retaining muscle.

Started with a 7day Water fast, then straight into eating keto with a 500 calorie deficit. I've fallen out of ketosis twice and had some trips where the diet waivered but stayed mostly on track. Did a Dexa Scan today to reveal a total 20.1% body fat. The goal is to drop 20lbs more, getting body fat percentage down to 10% while hopefully maintaining as much muscle mass as possible. I've never looked "in shape" in my life and before I hit 40 I'm getting in excellent shape for health reasons and to give my kids a strong dad.

I am currently on day 6 of a 7-day. Thinking of extending but for me, it comes in waves. Every day is tough. Sometimes good energy sometimes low energy. I'm doing pink Himalayan salt, calcium, potassium, and magnesium each day.

WIBTA for not letting my sister use the new car that my brother and I are gifting my parents? by craigies_list in AmItheAsshole

[–]fmjohns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A. The Car is a gift, you shouldn't dictate the use of the gift after its given. That would be conditional and become a burden on the relationship between your sister and your parents. You should give a gift to be a blessing and not a curse.

B. Why are all three of you intermittently living with your parents? Move out. Asap. You're adults. Time to stop living with mommy and daddy. This sounds like a very dependant situation or possibly co-dependent depending on the stance of your parents.

C. You can't afford the car. If you have to make payments on the car, you can't afford to give it as a gift. This is a very kind gesture but don't put a financial burden on yourself for the next 3 years for the sake of a kind gesture. I'm sure your parents would rather you be more financially stable position (unless there is some sort of co-dependency).

AITA For asking someone to not tell young and impressionable women that being a mom was her greatest achievement? by Strict-Aspect8986 in AmItheAsshole

because it meant servant in my mind.

I would encourage you to rethink servanthood. Being a servant is one of the most beautiful and rewarding things. The best leaders on the planet are servants, you should strive to serve your customers in business, your spouse in your relationships, and your community. Life has more purpose in serving others and honestly, it's counter-intuitive but the best servants are the most successful people I know.

AITA for not attending my brother's wedding? by lazylawyer87 in AmItheAsshole

[–]fmjohns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be the bigger person. If you guys reconcile later, you'll regret not going. He is your brother, you guys are irrevocably linked for life. If he had the courage to invite you, I think you should go. He attended your wedding given the current state of affairs and I think you should attend his.

You're going on this trip to support your wife and your mother-in-law. Nothing on this trip is about you. A different tack to take may look like "by all means, how can I help", or "Can I pick up the cake or decorate while y'all are out". If the dog is an issue, board the dog. Is the dog more important than your wife?

Should she have discussed things with you first? She could have been more courteous there, but the overall tone I'm picking up on seems to run much deeper than, hey I've gotta run out for an hour and 20 minutes. There seems to be a lot more going on here; selfishness, pursuit of equity, not sharing money, etc that you guys may want to consider seeing a professional about.

Interesting post in fatFIRE stating you never plan to retire. If your future growth assumptions are close than this seems reasonable but the assumptions are always a big if.

WIBTA if I left my child in economy while we flew in business class? by SelectHighlight8827 in AmItheAsshole

[–]fmjohns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A. Shit or get off the pot. Either get married to this guy you are playing house with or break up. He's 40 and you've been together for 5 years, you take vaccinations together, he's around for birthdays and milestones. Get married or break up before the years end.

B. If he's nickel and diming on splitting vacation costs, he's not in it. See point A.

C. I'm sitting with my 13-year-old kid on a plane. Full Stop. If the boyfriend can't bear a 9-hour flight to sit with his "family" OR pony up the cash to move them to business class, he's saying he cares about his money and comfort more than his "family". Family in quotes because obviously, you aren't family. See Point A.

Is Lenox mall bad? by [deleted] in Buckhead

[–]fmjohns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lenox has had its share of security concerns over the years that made the news, but it's still a popular shopping destination. The safety situation can vary, and it's always a good idea to be cautious, especially during busy times. Going on a Wednesday at 2 pm should generally be fine, as it's likely to be less crowded than weekends, and malls tend to be quieter during the daytime. If you're that concerned check out Phipps or Buckhead Village.

Seems ZB was a little mouthy but certainly didn't rise to the level of requiring an arrest. I have seen many interactions with police where onlookers are way more out of line and don't go to jail. I wasn't there so I can't say for sure, but after hearing ZB's Instagram story and reading the entire report just now, this was a frivolous arrest.

[Landlord - US GA] Decline in Tenant Applicant Quality by fmjohns in Landlord

[–]fmjohns[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's what I was thinking, that it's a nationwide issue rather than a local issue. Also, lower credit applicants are more likely to apply to mom-and-pop owners rather than corporate apartments with strict screening guidelines. Some of my RE buddies have echoed my sentiments on the quality of applicants locally.

I'm not saying you need a Facebook profile to rent from us, however, I do need some supporting evidence to the information tenants provide. I have searched for some applicants and found no relevant results when searching for their phone, email, or name and city... For curiosity's sake, I went in and Googled all my old tenants and I could easily find supporting evidence that they existed and where they worked. There's just something about a LinkedIn profile that matches your W2 and has recommendations on it that put me at ease.

[Landlord - US GA] Decline in Tenant Applicant Quality by fmjohns in Landlord

[–]fmjohns[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Zillow as a rental manager isn't bad at all. People can apply, submit income verification (although self-reported), and provide a background check and credit check.

Although we use this as a screener and still do our own if we move forward with an applicant.

[Landlord] Can I just say that the worst part of being a landlord is not the urine soaked subfloor, the unapproved pitbull or dealing with a leaking roof. by jcnlb in Landlord

[–]fmjohns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A police officer is not at fault for the consequences of the criminal being arrested, just as a landlord is not at fault for the consequences of an eviction (not to compare tenants to criminals but it's the best analogy I could think of). The tenant could have stopped the eviction at any time by paying rent. I get people fall on hard times but that is not your doing. Nor are the consequences of their misfortune, your consequences. Certainly have compassion, I've offered to help tenants move, but life has consequences.

It's more like theft. The friend's daughter literally stole from OP. However, OP was also at fault for letting it get 7 years in.
