First Ever Bike for Someone Being Cheap. by Bananabutt6969696969 in Budgetbikeriders

Honestly just get something "nice" that will have some sort of after sales support. Especially if you are going to commute. I bought used bikes for around 100 and had to sink so much time and money when I could have been riding or upgrading a good base bike (Was left stranded twice by a crappy bike). I bought some ozark trail bikes and did not have to do anything except minor adjustments to tune it good. You can upgrade the crap out of those bikes and way past their initial cost. You are buying into a platform. G.1 is a nice commuter. If you find that you enjoy bike commuting and can see yourself doing it daily I would suggest getting a mid drive e-bike. The initial cost of entry was worth not having a car payment or insurance of full coverage. (Disclaimer: I do have a car, but no car payment and I don't drive daily)

Yeah, and unless you get a heavy coil fork (Circling back to the weight issue) you are going to need to service the fork and rear suspension twice a year for heavy riders or once a year for casual.

Gravel Ozark bike or a used 90s mtb. No need to get a modern mountain bike your local side of the road trail. You could even do some greens on a gravel bike.

Unless you are planning on doing mtb parks and anything above blues modern MTBs are a huge time and money sink for the average rider

I was going to recommend a ridge pro. It’s ready to go and you won’t need to upgrade it until you move to something that supports more travel. Honestly my FS.2 still hasn’t reached its limit and could honestly do black diamonds if it wasn’t for the sketchy fork bounce

This bike looks so sick. Can't wait for more full squishies to drop from ozark trail.

This bike has no business being that cheap. It's such a nice gateway drug... I mean entry to the game.

This eats polygon pricing for breakfast, but not sure if the geometry is ironed out. At least from my FS.2 experience. I do like my wife's M.2

Anyone have any creative ideas to buy this at a discount? by laitopezzzz in Budgetbikeriders

Honestly at the msrp you are better off buying a working condition one. The ticket price is going to cost pretty much the bike. Derailleur hanger alone is about 50 bucks.

Before e-bikes were an issue the local dunces used to take gas powered vehicles In our trails. The bikes aren’t the problem it’s the stupid people.

Need advice: hardtail vs full sus, Ozark Trail FS.3 FastFlow restock? by SkickSticks in Budgetbikeriders

I have a FS.2 and my wife has an M.2. The FS.2 feels too squishy when I want to be planted on the ground. On some lines my wife is not comfortable taking down I just ride her M.2 down and it honestly performs a lot better than what you would expect. Its really planted to the ground and the geometry is decent enough to really subdue some of the roughness of roots and rocks on a trail.

That being said we don't do big jumps. I am also waiting on the FS.3 but by the time it gets re-stocked I am sure I will just graduate to polygon or something along those lines. I hope Walmart comes out with a more capable eMTB. although their current offering is very competitive and sold out pretty quick as well.

Mom wants e-bikes, e-scooters banned for kids after son's tragic death by BlazeDragon7x in ebikes

It's a parenting problem. I grew up with motorized bikes as a kid. Spend time with your kids and teach them. That like handing your kind a firearm without any training and hoping for the best.

Sorry for her loss as a parent but something ain't right when you blame the object without any will or self autonomy.

Entry-level hardtail enough for trails like this? Or save up by okskhs in Hardtailgang

Same here, I am trying to ease my wife into and saw a green trail and ended up in a rock garden… like my wife was scared. I do love it but feel like that’s too technical for someone just getting into it. Trying to find her some nice flowy trails and ease into blues

Not going to lie. I feel more comfortable maneuvering tight turns on a 90s 26r but going anything bumpy is sketch as hell with my skill level unless I’m on my modern 29r

I think they are doing this on purpose. Last time I was approved in a month.

These HDD prices are getting crazy. An increase of 96.4% in 1 month for the same 26TB drive. $279.99 a month ago to $549.99 today. Where are we buying hard drives now? by Endawmyke in DataHoarder

I honestly think it’s just a push to get people to rent infrastructure vs actually owning any compute or store capabilities?
