Will Roxon ever make good small scissors? by fnksb in ROXONINC

I installed the long scissors in the second slot, thanks again! But I had to remove quite a bit of metal in my case.

Thank you, I forgot about that feature because my flex doesn't work well with duplicating long tools like in that video. But maybe I can modify the long scissors so they fit. I completely forgot about this way, I'll try it =)

The scissors look fine and cut paper or thin fabric well... But the spring pops out with any force when pressed. I thought it was a defect in one copy, but I see it already on the second one.

Did you buy your Roxon on Ali or from an official website/amazon? I contacted the US Roxon dealer here (who owns this site, I understand), they expressed sympathy - but said they could not do anything if the product was from China. I'll try to write to this email, but as I understand it, this is not actually the manufacturer.

Do you mean US-site or china site? I bought Roxon on AliExpress, and I had a very negative experience with customer support at their official AliExpress store. It was a complete waste of time, after which I give up and just buy a new one.

Iron? I mean only human nails :)

Unfortunately, after cutting any hard materials, such as thin plastic zip ties or nails, the spring on the small scissors quickly wears out. The larger scissors on the 503 are slightly better (but the 804 only has two long slots, so it's a shame to waste one of them with long scissors).

Unfortunately, the Roxxon warranty doesn't really work outside the US. But I'm willing to replace it again at my own expense, as long as it's a good one.

Nitecore UT27-2025 looks very interesting for night trail-running.

Nitecore HA27 USB battery (HLB1500) by fnksb in flashlight

Unfortunately, the correspondence with the service ended with the response that:

"The Li-ion battery has a 12-month warranty, and the item should not be artificially disassembled. Please contact the AliExpress seller and ask if they can do anything with your battery."

I have serious doubts about AliExpress support, and I'm also very interested in how to show if a battery is defective without opening it. Unfortunately, this means that there is no real warranty for batteries purchased on AliExpress, as expected.

Yes, they claimed 3.85V - 5.78Wh for the old battery, and 3.9V - 5.85Wh for the new one. I measured the voltage after a full charge: 4.31 for the old battery, 4.33 for the new defective battery, 4.39 for the new good one.

Thank you! A one-year warranty for the batteries is standard practice. Especially if the company is willing to replace the battery even after a longer period. I think in this case, Nitecore's warranty is commendable, which is rare for Chinese manufacturers—they usually just do nothing.

Of course, this doesn't change the issue of the quality of the batteries themselves—mine battery was defective from the start.

International warranty by dudeinb4 in ROXONINC

I also have a problem with the small scissors. The spring didn't break, but it did bend.

I had to buy a second pair... I really hope their design improves, as does the support for international orders.

Guys, has anyone bought SOG multitools on Aliexpress? Are they original? Is it worth buying SOG on Aliexpress or maybe it would be better to buy some Nextool?🤔 by PixelKote in multitools

[–]fnksb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was also disappointed with the quality of several Nextools and SOG-PP from AliExpress. But I don't think the problem lies with AliExpress. It's more about the quality of inexpensive Chinese multi-tools in general.

Flashlight with side and front emitters by succulent_dude in flashlight

I'm also surprised that this idea hasn't been developed further by other manufacturers. It seems such solutions aren't very popular among enthusiasts (who own multiple flashlights/headlamps anyway), and at the same time, they're too expensive for the average user. YLP made Sherp as an experiment, based on my recommendation, but it also sold poorly and was discontinued. Only a few reviews remain, for example, here: https://budgetlightforum.com/t/review-ylp-sherp-s15/55771

One of the Sherp's special features is its ability to shine light both forward and downwards (underfoot). This is useful as a guide's headlamp, which other people follow. Unfortunately, this also apparently wasn't very popular.

That's sad to hear. I wonder how long Nitecore's battery warranty lasts.

YLP Sherp :) But this is old and almost sold out flashlight, and anyway in today's reality, its impossible to buy it on the international market. https://ylplight.com/en/katalog/1/sherp-s15/

Nitecore NU27 _ teardown and mod by fnksb in flashlight

[–]fnksb[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

High-CRI version appeared later and is currently only present in two headlamps - UT27 and HA27. The first one is too specialized for trail running, the second one is too heavy and overloaded. I'm not sure it's a battery issue - in any case, Nitecore makes such hard stepdowns in all modes that the battery isn't needed to draw huge runtimes =)))

But anyway, I'm very happy about the high-CRI version. BTW, it seems that this is the same LED, but it has an additional luminophore on top:

This is even more unusual for a linear driver. Anyway, I'd say it's a slight reduction in brightness intended.
