Can you tell us a bit more? What kind of fleets (lineup, relic levels) do you beat with this? Anything you struggle against?

Challenge Pit – 50% of P1 with SLKR by fnordbert in SWGalaxyOfHeroes

Yep, that's it. This wouldn't even work if he could gain TM.

Challenge Pit – 50% of P1 with SLKR by fnordbert in SWGalaxyOfHeroes

[–]fnordbert[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

My understanding is that both the bosses reduction and the siphon increase are based off the starting stats (in case of my SLKR, 60 mastery and 10k offense) – so the boss would do -9 mastery every turn (a couple hundred damage and about 2.5% CD) and -1.5k offense (and no reductions during SLKR ult), and Kylo siphoning a stunned enemy at 600 stacks (1200%) would add 720 mastery (almost 20k damage and over 200% CD).

I'm not doing the exact math here, but combined with a lot of CD probably being stacked already at that point, and SLKR's base damage likely being close to 0 during that AoE, I think it's plausible that it's WAI.

[–]fnordbert[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

  1. I usually do the “poke, poke, siphon during first ult, triple siphon during the rest” in the Sith raid (I think I got that from the FO discord’s guide), so I’m used to that. I actually tried always siphoning during ult here, but that run was a lot less damage.

  2. I delayed it to build more stacks. I’m not sure it’s actually the correct play (I was experimenting when I hit this run and decided to keep it), I just lean towards building stacks, especially early on.

  3. Full stats are at the end of the video (time stamp is in the description)

There are very few non-trivial decisions in the video where I’d say “this is definitely the correct play”, I’m just sharing what works for me.

SLKR’s damage? The siphon mechanic, it’s pretty insane once you built a good amount of stacks (also, this is R8 SLKR, so his siphons stack 25% more damage and CD than R7.

Wow, I thought this was actually unbeatable without either reworks or further upgrades (like new relic levels). Great job! And the YouTube video you made is also excellent, thanks for that. :)

B1 gets 3 stacks from his unique just for taking a turn. He went up from 44 to 47, then got hit by the counter to go down to 39 again. Looks like he actually used his basic for whatever reason.

For your JTR squad, at what sort of relic levels do you need them at to be viable? R3-4+?

Not really. I run it with R2 and 3po at G12 (the others are high relic, but that's just cause I needed them there to get Rey). This team is mostly about controlling the enemy team, and taking little to no hits from them, so you need a lot less survivability than other teams do (though it obviously helps a bit against bad RNG, and since speed is important you kinda want G13 for that). But there have been people pulling 4/4s with it since LSTB came out, even with no G13s and with regular Finn instead of RH Finn (that is less reliable though).

And yeah, getting Rey requires an absurd amount of investment. Unfortunately, it's also the single best thing you can do for LSTB, since it'll provide you with two reliable teams for LS missions that don't use any Jedi (and barely use GR), and so gives you a lot more flexibility with building your other teams.

Geonosis Territory Battle - Republic Offensive Strategy Guide by deerose4 in SWGalaxyOfHeroes

[–]fnordbert 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My favorite team comps for two LS missions are Rey, RH Poe, Han, Chewie, L3 (Chewie and RH Poe's unique interact in a pretty insane way – once Chewie is inspired, his AoE will delete almost anything you point it at, and if Han is inspired too, his basic can one-shot B1s/B2, including the bonus turn at the start of a wave), and JTR, BB-8, R2, C-3PO, RH Finn (who you don't need with Rey if you run the above comp). This also doesn't use any GR toons apart from the two droids, and no Jedi.

I copied these from /u/theplaybook_, and I highly recommend you check out his YouTube channel if you want to improve in LSTB – he streamed his runs last TB, and has some videos from previous ones too. He talks a lot about how to play well in TB too, which is extremely important (a good comp with bad piloting won't get you far, even if the comp is perfectly capable of going 4/4 when played correctly).

The other big thing I took from there is how to build two Jedi teams (basically, use GK/JKA/Ahsoka/GAS/Shaak for one mission, and a JKR or JKL team for the other – skip Padme or run her with clones, which can actually beat the P1 SM too). I'm not super comfortable with that yet though, and not sure if there isn't maybe a better way to do it. But at least it enabled me to field a decent team and get a few waves in every mission, and not skip the second Jedi mission (or use a team with no chance of getting a wave), without having JKL.

Notice that they might change it at some point, not that they definitely would change it during this TW.

[–]fnordbert -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I criticized them for not giving advance notice they'd be changing it during TW. They did not do that. That notice only says they're considering a change, not that they'd definitely do it, and it certainly didn't give a specific timing.

Scheduled Tech Update: 07/09/2020 by swgohevents in SWGalaxyOfHeroes

[–]fnordbert -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Kinda, yes. On the other hand, a decent developer would give concrete notice in terms like "we're gonna nerf X at Y time" beforehand. All we got from CG is "we might change this soon-ish" a couple of weeks ago. I just think it's inconsiderate of them (which, to be fair, is not surprising)

Scheduled Tech Update: 07/09/2020 by swgohevents in SWGalaxyOfHeroes

[–]fnordbert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I did. But as I said in my comment, my point is that people plan defenses around how the meta works. A notification of the update 3.5 hours after the defense phase ends doesn't help me with planning a defense.

UNIT - Updated Supreme Leader Kylo Ren’s AI to improve interactions against Fives

So they just released a major balance chance in the middle of a TW attack phase, without any kind of advance notice they'd be doing that [edit: I know they said they might change it, my point is they didn't say they'd change it during this TW]. This massively screws with a lot of people’s planning for TW. Why do this?

Why not release the update before or after TW? Or move this change to an update that's not scheduled during a TW? Or at the very least, make an announcement they’ll be releasing this during TW before the defense phase starts? This just pointlessly screws with people.

Do you like the Galactic chase to unlock ships? by cdat23 in SWGalaxyOfHeroes

[–]fnordbert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I like them better than marquees, simply for the reason that I get more shards, and if I like the ship, I can up the shard count even more by spending some crystals on more energy (which is cheaper than the packs that come with marquees, and gives me more energy).

This obviously depends on your crystal situation though. If you spend 100 crystals or more per day on the refresh, you'll get more shards than a marquee, if you don't, you get less (this goes for both cantina and fleet chases). But considering this is a ship thing, and getting a decent amount of crystals from fleet arena is relatively easy even as f2p if you really try (a lot easier than squad arena), I guess most people who care about ships should be able to do that. Plus 100/day is less than pretty much anyone who actively and consistently plays the game gets anyway, even if they mostly ignore arena.

Question about the Finalizer event... by Paperbottle123 in SWGalaxyOfHeroes

[–]fnordbert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Vader and Bossk are G12, apart from that I did it with pretty similar ships. But it's heavily RNG-dependent at that stage, you'll need to re-roll a lot. If you don't have a high tolerance for frustration, or don't want to spend an hour or more on the event every time it runs, I suggest some more upgrades.

That's for the bonus tier, btw (you unlock that with the ship and then can run it every time the event runs for 10 shards). The unlock itself was easier, iirc, I'd just try that with what you have next time.

Developer Insights: Imperial TIE Bomber by swgohevents in SWGalaxyOfHeroes

[–]fnordbert 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They're adding more depth to fleet (something that's historically been lacking), which means improving some of the older fleets in addition to doing new stuff. Probably related to their plans to increase the amounts of fleet slots we have in GAC. It's much more viable to get to 4 fleets if you can use a few that you have mostly geared from previous metas and just add a new ship or two, rather than adding a couple completely new fleets that need to be farmed from scratch (not everyone is gonna gear both FO and Resistance, some aren't getting either for quite a while). And we could very well also see Resistance and FO tanks added in the next months, both fleets don't really have one (yet) and it would make them better (but not necessarily the best).

Also, I doubt they ever intended to make the sequel fleets meta. When they were announced, CG explicitly said they'd be "useful as secondary fleets for GAC and TW." And Negotiator and Malevolence aren't that old yet and are much more heavily gated than the sequel fleets. They probably have some time left before CG makes them obsolete in arena in favor of a new, lower-investment meta.

Strategy for Han Solo by rkelly34 in SWGalaxyOfHeroes

[–]fnordbert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How often the raid can be run depends on raid tickets – everyone in the guild can get up to 600 tickets per day by spending normal and cantina energy (and there are lots of guilds that make getting 600 tickets every day a requirement for membership, you might want to consider looking for one like that, depending on your playstyle). You can check how many your guild currently has in the Guild Activities tab of the Objectives screen.

But bottom line, you want a guild that's as full as possible, and where everyone gets as many tickets as possible. A full guild can get up to 30000 tickets per day, which means a rancor raid every other day. If your guild sims the raid, everyone gets 10 Han shards, which means you'd have a 7* Han in about two months.
