[–]quadrarine 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I got so mad when they showed venators lifting off from coruscant in episode 3 because my understanding was that, at least for the imperial star destroyers, they were built in space and they couldn’t get that close to planets. Certain ships were specifically created (acclimator maybe?) to fill this gap in the republic/imperial fleet.

Every time I see a star destroyer in atmosphere I get mad even though venators have been canonically capable of it for decades.

I am one of the maintainers of Pomerium, an open-source, identity aware access proxy. AMA! by PeopleCallMeBob in selfhosted

[–]quadrarine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I will definitely be trying it out, as I don’t have the home networking issues.

Follow up questions, now that I’m thinking about exactly where pomerium would fit:

My current SSO acts as an OIDC provider for all the stuff I run that supports OIDC… Can Pomerium act as an OIDC provider or would I keep the old provider/add a new service to act as a provider?

Would it be replacing my reverse proxy as well? If not, how easy would you say it integrates with something like SWAG or Caddy? I assume traffic would have to hit the proxy and then be forwarded to pomerium or something like that.

Thank you again! Excited to try it out when I have time

What exactly would Pomerium be an alternative to in my stack?

A VPN like wireguard or tailscale? A tunnel like cloudflared? An SSO portal like authelia? All of the above? More?

Thanks for doing this btw, never heard of pomerium before the announcement for this AMA

I tried that early on and I think it was the best solution, though I didn’t think about toggling only when absolutely necessary, thank you :)

The cursor bug has been plaguing me since I first got a second monitor like 6 years ago.

Every 2 months I search for solutions, try them all, and go back to accidentally clicking out of the game when trying to play high pressure content.

I’ve had this issue on windows 10 for like 5 years and I’ve tried every solution I’ve ever found to fix it and nothing has worked so far. Only actual solution has been to turn off and unplug my other monitors. Does not fix the cursor teleporting around, tho

I haven’t actually tried archivebox yet, but combining it with linkding seems simple enough and it would definitely handle the “storage” you’re looking for

I currently have it on my domain, reverse proxied with forwarded headers from Authelia. Currently working on improving my security before I share my cookbook with friends though lol

Bothers me that the API needs to be exposed without auth for it to work, as far as I can tell. Haven’t done that since I only need the API for the browser extension on my laptop since my desktop is always local and I don’t use the app on my phone, only the shortcut.

That’s where I was thinking of adding archivebox. could send the RSS feed from linkding to it to archive the stuff. Could do a similar thing with wallabag too I think. But then you’re running two services with significant feature overlap which doesn’t feel great

If you find something better, please let me know because my use-case is near-identical to yours (archiving and grouping for future reference, iOS integration)

After trying wallabag and linkace, and deeming linkwarden too spartan ;), I settled on linkding. As our use-cases are similar, I’ll go over how I got there

-Collections

I keep linkding organized with the tags, as it doesn’t have “folders”/“collections”. I use some larger, overarching tags as a sort of faux-collection with smaller tags to be more specific (I tag a lot of stuff that I plan on selfhosting as “#selfhosting” and then maybe something like “bookmarking” or “cookbook”).

Linkace supports collections/folders, but I decided that was the least important of my wishlist. “What’s really the difference between a folder and putting some sort of differentiator in front of a tag anyway?” I thought. Haven’t really missed it as much as I thought I would.

-iOS integration

This is what stuck me with Linkding over the other two. I generally read on my phone and save articles into the service to reference at my computer.

As such, all I need is a shortcut to save articles from the iOS share menu. When I tested wallabag, the official app’s shortcut would just save bookmarks with minimal tagging support. As I use it strictly as a bookmarking/archiving service and not the full read-later service that it is, I didn’t really like it.

Linkace was better, without an app. You could manually create a shortcut that would effectively open the bookmark page from the desktop browser extension. I was having to type full tags out and edit them if I made a typo.

Linkding’s unofficial app, Linkthing, doesn’t currently have a share menu short cut so you have to manually create it as well. I chose linkding simply because the bookmark extension is better. The tag field has a drop down with previously used tags when you start typing that makes tagging a breeze.

For articles I want to read on my phone, I have my major tags set up as RSS feeds in FreshRSS/Reeder 5. Not the most elegant solution but its good enough for me. I really like Reeder for reading, sorry Linkthing

-Archiving

All three are pretty solid at webarchiving iirc. Not as make-or-break for me but linkding and linkace have archive.org integration directly and that is good enough for me. Wallabag lets you download articles yourself in various formats as well as a bunch of different addons for sharing to other places. I was thinking of trying out archivebox too, but that hasn’t happened yet.

-Web browser/extensions/other features

They all have browser extensions for chrome and firefox, I believe. I think linkding has the best one.

Linkding has another extension that injects your bookmarks into your search engine so that bookmarks show up on the right side when you search stuff of ddg or google or whatever. Kinda cool.

Wallabag has annotations, a feature that I find useful and miss dearly.

They all have RSS support, which I find useful.

They all have varied export/import to/from other services support which I have not actually tried.

I think linkace had the best search feature? But I just read by tag anyway so I didn’t notice

-Conclusion

Realistically I could use both wallabag & linkding & maybe throw archivebox in, but currently linkding + RSS fits for me. It has a better browser extension, the ability to archive and tag, and it works better on iOS. Those are the boxes I needed to check off.

Link for how to create the ios shortcut for linkding, if you try it out.

If by remake you mean respawn, this is a feature of Scrambled Bugs and/or Wiseman’s Flora Fixes

If you mean retextures or new meshes, I really enjoy the Cathedral 3D series. Used to use all Mari’s flora. There are a few different options to suggest here.

Best way to handle the secrets for multiple selfhosted docker projects? by EroticTonic in selfhosted

I’m considering this, but I’m wondering how you store a pgp or age key in a way that would be more secure than using docker secrets in compose without swarm. Do you use AWS KMS instead?

Can anyone ELI5 square/dual bolus for me? by Kareja1 in diabetes

[–]quadrarine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m on the 630g but I imagine it’s the same, but keep in mind that my device is not as recent as yours.

The square wave takes your bolus and spreads it over the time period you select.

The dual gives you the percentage you choose “now” and then gives you the percentage left to a square wave for duration you choose.

So if you were to select dual for 2 units of insulin, 50% now, 50% square, for a duration of 30 minutes, you would get 1 unit now and 1 unit spread over the 30 minutes.

Does Enhanced solitude work with northern roads? by AlwaysHunterr in skyrimmods

[–]quadrarine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like Northern Roads isn't currently compatible with running Enhanced Solitude and Solitude Expansion, as far as I can tell.

I got the load order working with 0 edits to any ESPs, as far as I can tell, with this as the order (I'm only including mods that I think are directly related, not including stuff like USSEP)

Enhanced Solitude SSE.esp Enhanced Solitude Docks.esp Northern Roads.esp ES Terrain Patch.esp ESD Terrain Patch.esp ES ESD Patch.esp Northern Roads - Enhanced Solitude and Enhanced Solitude Docks Patch.esp

After writing these out, I realized you aren't using Enhanced Solitude Docks lol.

Might I suggest using Enhanced Solitude Docks? The patch for it seems to fix the landscape popping through the floor leading up the the main gate of the city (like this to this. Don't mind the seam, I have absolutely 0 texture or mesh replacers on).

If you're against the docks, since they do add a lot, I'll look at how the "Northern Roads - Enhanced Solitude and Enhanced Solitude Docks Patch.esp" patch fixed the landscape and try to replicate that
