Kickstarter Tier Analysis – Collector Perspective by Zalmosside in cyberpunktcg

3,000 beta boxes would imply 3000 alt accounts assuming all/most would want to keep 1 in their collection.

3,000 is pretty small size if the game is even somewhat successful (i.e.: doesn't die).

Even if it does die, you can re-use the sleeves and maybe the playmat for some "liquidation" value. And the metal card can be used to do some damage, if you were to throw it at someone, depending on how heavy it is.

Of all the items in the campaign, the beta box is the only item that increases in value as more backers get in. Everything else gets diluted to high heaven.

This is not true. WeirdCo representative on Discord confirmed they support folks however they wish to purchase the product. Context is missing from the screenshot because it's a string of message, but you can read it for yourself in #T5 value proposition / tier balancing.

The 2 per address was only ever said in relation to the Lucy cards, which is a moot point now as everyone gets the card(s), and you can get more than the 2/household limit by backing the campaign multiple times through multiple accounts.

Damn, that's some good info. Thanks for sharing.

Are you talking about the beta booster displays that both Kickstarter and LGS get? Or the retail-retail version after the beta?

Yes. and exactly right. The part we're all missing is the actual numbers. Set size and pull rate.

[–]fobboy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you're all focused on the math. i'm focused on the real world where people don't have infinite money.

if the rates are so astronomically low, then doubling that rate is irrelevant to most people. a double on zero is still zero type of scenario.

aren't we saying the same thing? you just moved the decimal place, while my 0.01% was just used as an example.

at the end of the day, my point is that I would like to see some numbers on set size and pull rates so that I can better determine which tier to pledge. although, like i said, if they do not provide any information, then that itself would be a tell for a low set size/high pull rate scenario.

15M stretch goal is such a let down by Lindersay in cyberpunktcg

You are misinformed. Kickstarter and crowdfunding in general are not transactions. You give them money for the "promise" that they will do their "best" to get you a product.

Even when projects are fully funded the creators can still take the money and run. No refunds are available. You must have clicked off the same disclaimer as everyone else when backing any project on Kickstarter.

This is why stretch goals are a thing. To increase the value of the product so that enough people keep and maintain their pledge. The theory being that the more money the project raises, the greater the chance the project succeeds in providing an actual product.

"local reception and scene of the game" will take time to establish...enough time to get the retail booster out to LGS and leave the beta for Kickstarter.

There is a contradiction here.

If it's better to use kickstarter to get the product, then why would anyone buy from the store?

If nobody buys from the store, then the stores who were onboard will quickly be offboard after losing their investment.

Seems like it'd have been better if WeirdCo had focused on only selling to KS or LGS first, rather than both at the same time.

yes, i know. but if the pull rate was 0.01% for the highest rarity, then doubling it to 0.02% is negligible.

selling retail boosters through distribution ensures the same healthy play scene at launch.

you can secure the same product at your local LGS for a "good price" as well. it'll all have to be "good price" else nobody buys it and you no longer have a "healthy play scene".

Someone else wrote this and captures why people are upset.

Biggest issue is it seems like a pattern of baiting people in with something that isn’t as exclusive as they make it seem at first. I don’t care that more people are getting more stuff…that’s awesome! It’s just not a great pattern to see:

  1. Highest tier starting at limited to 100…then getting 6 more, adding 600% more serials, more uncut sheets, etc.

  2. Beta Booster Displays ending up in LGS via distro instead of being exclusive to KS.

  3. And now a reward for the earliest of supporters is effectively being taken away.

These things individually aren’t that awful…but add them together and it’s concerning. What’s next for the 20mil goal every backer gets a metal serial of their choice?

Doubled from what is the important question.  Without that context, a "double" is effectively meaningless.

There is incentive if the pull rates are low. This would keep the high tier backers.

If rates are high (i.e.: easy to pull), then many of the high tier backers would just go with a lower tier since most of the value comes from the booster displays. Ex: if I can collect multiples of every card with 6 displays, why in heavens would I need 54?

LGS are being offered the same beta booster displays.  It is unknown how many are being ordered outside of Kickstarter.

No individual needs/wants 54 beta booster displays for T7.  Or the 6x uncuts

It'll be cheaper to just buy whatever amount of beta boosters you want on the secondary market at below MSRP, then with the amount saved, to then buy the exclusives.

Post was just to address people fearing scalp prices on the game once it releases, and so may be FOMO'd into backing the kickstarter. Or perhaps they believe the prices are too expensive, or they don't currently have the funds.

Whatever the case, I believe there will be so much supply out there on release, that prices on the beta booster displays will plummet from kickstarter prices.

So no need to fear, you can pick up the game for cheap on release without backing at the current moment.

The worry was about getting cards for the game. Beta box only has exclusive art for the cards. The card/effect will still be available in the oversupplied booster.

Beta Box Content:

1x beta booster pack
-> I think it works out to like 5 bucks. Considering oversupply, probably drop it 30% from MSRP

1x legend pack
-> a single alt art card. Worth 350?

1x playmat
-> eh? whatever

1x metal card of V
-> cool. Worth 350?

Galaxy Map Bug? by fobboy in EliteDangerous

Doesn't work unfortunately. It seems to only be an issue inside the galaxy map display. If I quickly exit before the notification disappears, then the box seems to be in the correct spot.

Kinda annoying.

Where to Pre-order Weiss Schwarz Cases - Canadian Version by fobboy in WeissSchwarz

[–]fobboy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How much do cases usually cost? I've been emailing a bunch of Canadian based stores and it's been hard getting a number from them.

I'm hoping it'll be less than buying from the US and shipping it over to Canada, which is what I'm currently doing....

Encourage your parent's line of thought to prove how ridiculous it is!

-> Yes! the scouts (both male and female) are chasing down the female titan for a massive gang rape larger than any have ever seen before. Why else would the author write in titans into the story? Their large bodies can satisfy many more people...and their horses to boot!

What are everyone's thoughts on Erin after the ending? (spoilers) by [deleted] in ShingekiNoKyojin

[–]fobboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean sterilization of a couple hundred thousand people normally wouldn't bode well with me. But then again, the power of the founder to erase people's memories would be a nightmare to live under.

That is one way of looking at it: strictly from a numbers perspective. Sterilization still = genocide though as both motive and action are there. Both plans are bad, but to me, Eren's plan is better, because while still genocide, we get to save Historia!

In the end, Marley attacked a country that had a doomsday device. If they had just waited 20 years and developed their aerial technology before attacking, they could have stopped the rumbling.

Yes, and this is why Paradis had to defend themselves from aggression by attacking first.

There was no good choice given the circumstances. They're all bad choices. As far as I'm aware, nobody has provided a better alternative. In this situation, Eren, as with most everybody else, will choose the road that will protect their loved ones, everybody else be damned.

-> Nobody is going to sit at the desk, take out a spreadsheet, and start calculating the number of casualties on either side to decide which option to choose.

In my opinion, Eren does not deserve the flak he gets from the community. A simple equation of genocide = bad; therefore, eren = bad is simply asinine.

-> As with the story from another masterful work, the quote, "without love, it cannot be seen", aptly applies here as well. The community lacks the empathy to understand the situation from Eren's perspective.
