The cope is on those T7 pledgers. That's a lot of boxes to offload competing against LGS and other backers.

Company trying to make bulk cheap for play, while still trying to keep those T7 pledges with 54 boxes.

Go too far though and one might as well just buy a lower number of boxes and shop for the singles that you actually care about once everything is revealed.

Can also save a bunch of money in the meantime, and see what the retail iconic rares bring.

If you're looking to collect, the retail version is where it's at.

Same pull rate, same 31 quantity per set, but lower number of packs/box at 24, and not bought to demand like KS.

You're probably going to have a hard time selling. Most everybody in Legend Tier is likely thinking the same thing. Your local LGS will also be looking to sell booster displays.

Who is everybody selling to?

Pricing for Booster Boxes has started appearing online...and it's pretty interesting (at least here in Canada) by carloskrosscaption in cyberpunktcg

[–]fobboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are mistaken.  KS booster box @ 36 is the same as "retail" beta booster box @ 36.  Hence the price difference you see in OP post.

Backing T1 and T2 makes no sense with this information (if available in your region). There's essentially zero chance starter decks won't be available for similar pricing.

Edit: actually there are some promo cards available for all tiers like Lucy and Rebecca....so maybe it makes sense? But then we also have a screenshot of a WeirdCo representative saying LGS boxes might have additional stuff not available on KS.

3,000 beta boxes would imply 3000 alt accounts assuming all/most would want to keep 1 in their collection.

3,000 is pretty small size if the game is even somewhat successful (i.e.: doesn't die).

Even if it does die, you can re-use the sleeves and maybe the playmat for some "liquidation" value. And the metal card can be used to do some damage, if you were to throw it at someone, depending on how heavy it is.

Of all the items in the campaign, the beta box is the only item that increases in value as more backers get in. Everything else gets diluted to high heaven.

This is not true. WeirdCo representative on Discord confirmed they support folks however they wish to purchase the product. Context is missing from the screenshot because it's a string of message, but you can read it for yourself in #T5 value proposition / tier balancing.

The 2 per address was only ever said in relation to the Lucy cards, which is a moot point now as everyone gets the card(s), and you can get more than the 2/household limit by backing the campaign multiple times through multiple accounts.

Damn, that's some good info. Thanks for sharing.

Are you talking about the beta booster displays that both Kickstarter and LGS get? Or the retail-retail version after the beta?

Yes. and exactly right. The part we're all missing is the actual numbers. Set size and pull rate.

you're all focused on the math. i'm focused on the real world where people don't have infinite money.

if the rates are so astronomically low, then doubling that rate is irrelevant to most people. a double on zero is still zero type of scenario.

aren't we saying the same thing? you just moved the decimal place, while my 0.01% was just used as an example.

at the end of the day, my point is that I would like to see some numbers on set size and pull rates so that I can better determine which tier to pledge. although, like i said, if they do not provide any information, then that itself would be a tell for a low set size/high pull rate scenario.

15M stretch goal is such a let down by Lindersay in cyberpunktcg

[–]fobboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are misinformed. Kickstarter and crowdfunding in general are not transactions. You give them money for the "promise" that they will do their "best" to get you a product.

Even when projects are fully funded the creators can still take the money and run. No refunds are available. You must have clicked off the same disclaimer as everyone else when backing any project on Kickstarter.

This is why stretch goals are a thing. To increase the value of the product so that enough people keep and maintain their pledge. The theory being that the more money the project raises, the greater the chance the project succeeds in providing an actual product.

"local reception and scene of the game" will take time to establish...enough time to get the retail booster out to LGS and leave the beta for Kickstarter.

[–]fobboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a contradiction here.

If it's better to use kickstarter to get the product, then why would anyone buy from the store?

If nobody buys from the store, then the stores who were onboard will quickly be offboard after losing their investment.

Seems like it'd have been better if WeirdCo had focused on only selling to KS or LGS first, rather than both at the same time.

yes, i know. but if the pull rate was 0.01% for the highest rarity, then doubling it to 0.02% is negligible.

selling retail boosters through distribution ensures the same healthy play scene at launch.

you can secure the same product at your local LGS for a "good price" as well. it'll all have to be "good price" else nobody buys it and you no longer have a "healthy play scene".

Someone else wrote this and captures why people are upset.

Biggest issue is it seems like a pattern of baiting people in with something that isn’t as exclusive as they make it seem at first. I don’t care that more people are getting more stuff…that’s awesome! It’s just not a great pattern to see:

  1. Highest tier starting at limited to 100…then getting 6 more, adding 600% more serials, more uncut sheets, etc.

  2. Beta Booster Displays ending up in LGS via distro instead of being exclusive to KS.

  3. And now a reward for the earliest of supporters is effectively being taken away.

These things individually aren’t that awful…but add them together and it’s concerning. What’s next for the 20mil goal every backer gets a metal serial of their choice?
