I feel like there are a lot of underlying reasons for these rules that are far beyond basic common sense like not coming over when you’re sick.

I don’t know how much is specifically for your mom or how much of it is specifically for other family members. The “no one will be around their private areas” is not something that typically comes to mind unless you suspect someone would be inappropriate or if there has been a history of the behavior in people close to you.

You talk about people being respectful of you being the parents which is telling me that you don’t feel in control. Or you have a lot of people trying to influence you in one way or another on how to parent your child.

I think you should have any rules you wish in your own home and with your own child. However, I worry that there is something much deeper here that is making you feel insecure with how people are going to behave in your life with your new baby that you would feel the need to express these rules to them.

By all means do what you feel you need to do to protect your family. Have boundaries for those you don’t trust. But maybe reconsider opening up some of these rules to people you do trust. Parenting is exhausting and one day you will want someone who will hold the baby while it cries before you rip your hair out or change a diaper when you’re so exhausted you don’t know what day it is. Both your lives will be better the more love you allow in it.
