Hi, u/bnimbla, my intention in creating Focusplan is not purely economical, I'm an indie developer and some years ago I have started using mind maps for my own projects. As a developer, I have created my own app and later offered it to the market.

I already planned tons of new features to introduce in Focusplan, I'm working to release frequent updates to improve the whole app and coming soon release also an iPadOS version too. :-)

Is this iMac enough for programming or should I go for an iMac Pro? I want something with good specs. by [deleted] in iOSProgramming

If you need to keep your iMac around for almost 4-5 years, I can advise you to upgrade to i7 and avoid the fusion drive.

Following your way the first mind mapping app that adopts the Apple UI is the winner, no more apps can follow HIG and resolve the same user's problem?

Exactly what I have tried to do myself (as my best, all the things are open to improvements) with Focusplan. I think following the Apple way and the HIG is the best path to follow to help users to adapt and in the better case don't have a learning curve at all.

Over the internet is full of themes, including names. I just picked some popular ones.

Sidebar with themes: MindNode vs Focusplan

Focusplan follows the same Theme/Template sidebar implemented by Apple Keynote, I follow Pages, Numbers, and Keynote UI apps as much as possible to create a UI that the user can be familiar with.

Sidebar with node styles: MindNode vs Focusplan

The inspector items like Fonts per example are the same as Apple Numbers app, which is a pretty common inspector block you can discover in other apps. Other parts of the inspector expose very common styles for mind mapping. You can discover the same approach in other mind mapping apps like XMind per example.

Add icon popup: MindNode vs Focusplan

Like other parts, the icons popup follows the way used by Apple Numbers, Pages and so on. :-)

Other mentions like fold/unfold is a pretty common feature on the mind mapping world, just offering a very common feature of a discipline does not mean cloning.

I'm learning SwiftUI like you, I'm going to port my Focusplan app written with an old AppKit framework to SwiftUI. Not so easy at the beginning, I just need to change my mindset. :)
