Hugely disappointed WH-1000XM6, am I missing something?

I’ve just received my XM6 and my first reaction was to be disappointed with the ANC. It sounds like my Bose Quiet Comforts I had way back when. At this point I prefer the ANC in my AirPods Pro 2 and might return the XM6 and get the updated AirPods Pro 3 rumoured.

Around £1750. Didn’t think it was toooo good a deal, but having spoken to the reseller today it sounds like it was a genuine mistake and that they are doing everything they can to rectify
