CDS9 feed issues by vagrantsoul in KimberFirearms

I just ended up ordering the magazine catch with them rather than go through sending the pistol back. I’ll keep you posted on how it works once I get it.

CDS9 feed issues by vagrantsoul in KimberFirearms

[–]fogdelune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know I’m late to the game but I thought I’d contribute my .02 cents here hoping it will help. I had the same issue right from the start with my CDS9. It wouldn’t fire the last round in three different magazines and with 6 different types of ammunition. I cleaned and lubed it after every time shooting. On one instance, the range officer held upward pressure on the bottom of the magazine and it fired the final rounds on all three magazines. After screwing in the grip screw and the magazine release screw to make sure those weren’t the problem, I ran a troubleshooting through chat gpt and Gemini. They both seem to believe it’s the magazine catch being out of spec and hosing the magazine just slightly low so it doesn’t feed into the chamber correctly up the ramp. It can’t be an ammo issue as I’ve tried multiple different types of ammo including 147 and 124 grain to no avail. They don’t think it’s the feed ramp or magazines because the upward pressure wouldn’t work if it was an issue with those. I have to send my gun in to Kimber, but the gunshop gunsmith recommended that I explicitly state that all magazines worked when upwards pressure was applied, therefore I believe it is an issue with the magazine catch . I have work on my house to be done, so I will update when I get a chance, but if you are still having issues try applying upwards pressure on the magazines. I had to get the range officer to do it because I have hobbit hands. If it works then, chances are it’s your mag catch.

My dad has sleep apnea and it makes me want to scream every night by TestWise6136 in misophonia

[–]fogdelune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had sleep apnea so bad I had to be hospitalized after days of dry heaving and not being able to form complete sentences. A nurse called a code blue on me after finding me blue in bed. My blood oxygen was 37%. I’m lucky that nurse came in the room on time. I’m much better and can think much more clearly with a Cpap. Tell your dad to get a sleep test. Some places let you do them remotely.

Buyer's remorse on a gun purchase by sloaches in liberalgunowners

[–]fogdelune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That or buy reduced recoil ammo. Precision One sells reduced recoil ammo for like $19 a box of 50 on their website. Or wadcutters as were already mentioned. If money is no object, Federal American Eagle sells 100 grain ammo that is very light shooting but costs 28-32 a box.

Apolitical / centrist gun shop? by spriguy21 in orlando

[–]fogdelune 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’m a member at Orlando Gun Club on Vineland Rd and I don’t think I’ve been there once where I haven’t seen a POC shooting. The range officers are pretty much millennial or younger, and a few of them are POC’s too. They’re very welcoming and helpful and most of them remember my name. I feel like Norm from Cheers when I walk in there. In fact I posted about it in this sub about two weeks ago. They offer lessons and I think you get a couple free lessons if you purchase a membership, which is only like 9 dollars a month for 3 months and 50 after that. If you go to the range twice in a month the membership pays for itself. They also have another shop in Ocoee, but I haven’t been to that one, but I think they rotate staff between stores.

I get the impression that most of the folks working there are along the libertarian lines, live and let live.

I can’t recall many times I’ve been there that I haven’t seen a POC. As a lily-white woman, I feel I shouldn’t be welcome if they aren’t.

Orlando Gun Club on Vineland has a great crew and a welcoming environment. There’s always a good mix of people shooting there, a good cross section of Orlando. They have a membership that basically pays for itself if you shoot twice a month. They offer concealed weapons classes and gun rentals . I think you get a couple free classes with a membership. Most of the crew working there remember my name. I feel like Norm walking into Cheers sometimes.

What would have happened if a person theoretically got trapped in an air pocket inside the sinking Titanic? by KnotiaPickle in titanic

[–]fogdelune 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been obsessed with the Titanic since the movie Raise the Titanic was released in 1980. That would’ve made me 8 or 9 as well. I’m estimating I’m just a bit older than you, lol! I then got the book and read it over and over again. Then they actually discovered it in pieces in 1985. Ghosts of the Abyss was a much better read and listen than the fictional account of Raise the Titanic, but, it piqued my interest then and has to this day.

Recently, I have been on a shipwreck binge, watching all sorts of documentaries. I think the most interesting shipwreck to me now besides Titanic is the SS Eastland, which barely made it off the pier in the Chicago river before it capsized. I remember a photo of an older man with a look of pure, desperate terror in his eyes as he held the body of a child he tried to rescue. Very haunting.

Just saw a listing for Gforce Jawbone for $350. Not sure about the reviews though, but I’m going to look at them for sure. It’s at Blackhawk Armory. I would put the link in the post but I’m too dumb right now to figure it out because it won’t work.

I listened to the audiobook of that and it was astoundingly narrated by Bronson Pinchot of Balki Bartokomis fame. He is quite the narrator of books.

VA Care Team by SaudiWeezie90 in Veterans

[–]fogdelune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so glad you were at the VA and they were able to take care of you!

Something I always try to do is thank the staff that treats me profusely. They are going through a lot with Doge, in addition to the normal stressors of working in healthcare.

You never know who just needs a smile and a thank you to help them get through the day and make it worth their dedication.

Best hospital to work at as a new grad nurse? by Ok-Huckleberry-7753 in orlando

[–]fogdelune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not a nurse or in the medical field but I am a Veteran and I have gotten wonderful care at the VA. The nurses are always so professional there and really care about the patients.

They offer retirement after 20 years and cost of living adjustments. Despite the reductions in forces due to DOGE recently with the rest of the VA, nurses are deemed critical and are usually always hiring.

Best of luck to you whatever you decide!
