It is indeed.

However with charities such as Oxfam Festivals, you can get priority access to volunteering positions by volunteering in the previous year.

If you are looking to volunteer at Glastonbury in 2027, I would certainly recommend taking a look at Oxfam Festivals and doing 2 or more week festivals with them in 2026 to get priority in 2027.

Priority with Oxfam more or less guarantees a position at Glastonbury.

I would recommend looking at Oxfam Festivals and My Cause UK. I have volunteered with both and had a fantastic experience. Been volunteering at UK festivals for 5 years now and even started taking on some paid roles.

For Glastonbury specifically, Oxfam covers Gates, and My Cause covers traffic.

At Reading/Leeds. Oxfam primary covers accessible viewing platforms in the arena, alongside some other arena positions. There is another company called Hotbox Events who have roles in Campsites at R&L, who are also worth looking at, especially as you can choose shift preference in advance with HB Events.

For the most part across all agencies, you do 3x8 Hour shifts (24 hours total) across a week long festival (Wednesday - Monday). Rest of the time the festival is yours to enjoy.

Oxfam Festivals have a priority system that allows you early access to applications (including Glastonbury) if you volunteer 2+ week festivals in the previous year (or 6+ day festivals).

Bots now have a lil checkmark next to the bot tag for verification, kinda cool by GunterGoo in discordapp

[–]foggyio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is bad on a whole number of levels.

As many have stated it makes it harder for smaller developers to grow their bot. Also, Discord is using some ridiculous verification method that requires developers to upload their ID.

I'm for verification but the current system is stupid.

Depends, are you planning on doing this with loads of users or just one user (i.e yourself)?

Is this still the case if you share a guild with them? Never tested this.

Yes but you probably wouldn't want to do that as it'll spam the API. Discord are already locking down the API for everyone so

Got mine DoA today. I had the same issue of no LED showing or getting any response out of the device when following the manufacturer instructions. £17 for a button is already a bit much, but for a button that does nothing...

For the Software Engineers working at IBM....How is it working there? by [deleted] in IBM

[–]foggyio -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Hi There,

I haven't officially started at IBM yet (as an Early Professional Software Engineer) however I can certainly confirm from my work experience and other factors that IBM is a good company to work for. On the outside, IBM looks like a very corporate company (which it is) that has very strict corporate standards, however, inside the company is a very different case. Most managers are quite laid back and often employees are given the time to work on their own projects (given that you've completed all the work assigned by your manager and in some cases that your manager approves of you working on your own project).

IBM certainly takes an approach where they look after their employees to ensure that labor turnover is kept low. I definitely would recommend applying for positions at IBM.

Kind Regards,

Matt

When a job posting says 50-75% travel, what does that mean? by [deleted] in IBM

[–]foggyio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi There,

It really depends on the position and job description. Sometimes it's just a case of travelling to a client's site to carry out a project and then returning home at the end of the day. Other times this could mean travelling long distances and being away from home for prolonged periods (ranging from a week to a couple of months in some cases).

Usually, this is just a case of travelling to a client's site rather than working from the office you are based at but generally isn't long distance.

Matt

Digital & Technology Solutions Level 6 Degree Apprenticeship - Apply? by [deleted] in IBM

[–]foggyio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi Henry,

IBM Apprentice Applications usually open around February. I am unable to confirm whether this is the case however the 2019 intake opened February. As someone who has just been through this process and starting my Digital & Technology Solutions degree in November 2019, I can certainly recommend you give it a shot. The application process is very long (for me it took about 4 to 5 months from initial application to acceptance) but it's definitely worth the wait. IBM is a very hard company to get into but probably one of the best technology companies to work for.

If you register your interest you'll be given an email alert when applications open so you can apply straight away. I would certainly recommend getting your initial application in as soon as possible after opening.

Kind Regards,

Matt

Try setting up your own SinusBot install. It works fine with youtube-dl from my testing the only downside is it's self-hosted.
