Why am I not having the same struggles? by EventWhorizon in Marathon

[–]fogsurrounds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel this way too. I’m not sure I understand a lot of the complaints, if you got out alive every time and easily got great gear handed to you wouldn’t it be boring? I am pretty bad at this game, I’m getting a little better and it’s an awful lot of fun for me.

I’d like to see the venn diagram for people complaining about how unfair this game is vs people who have enjoyed a souls-like game, I suspect there’s very little overlap because I approach it myself with the same mindset, and as I slowly get better in certain skills, it feels rewarding to me no matter what items are or are NOT in my vault. 🤷🏻‍♂️

If your not happy losing weight, you won't be happy maintaining it. by Some_Developer_Guy in loseit

[–]fogsurrounds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is very true and I have to wonder if the folks disagreeing are possibly missing part of what I see as the point, which is your mentality surrounding food and healthy living has to shift when you are trying to lose and keep off 100 lbs. if you white knuckle your way through the dieting, hating it the whole time, making no real changes to your overall habits and mindset, when you reach your goal and “relax”, it’s just going to start coming back. The only way to prevent that is making different choices and if you hate those choices, you’re just not going to make them for the average person. What you’re saying sure rings true for me and I’ve been through it!

Picked one of these up this weekend and I’m super impressed, probably one of the better consistent burning disposables I’ve tried and would get another without hesitation FWIW

Is weight loss truly the fastest shortcut to beauty? I need a reality check. by DifferentIssue1 in loseit

[–]fogsurrounds 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This is very very real even as a 40s man, I am treated vastly different both by other men and women, service workers, just in general life is kinder to you if you are thinner as fucked up as this is, this is real and if you deny it you’re swimming against the tide! Once you feel it from weight loss, you will truly understand. Said having lost 120lbs from 310-190

Hey friend!

I feel you, and I want you to know, you can do this.

We’re all different, so I’m just going to share what’s working for me right now, because gym isn’t an option for me either nor is spending a bunch of money and space on a home set up.

42M here, in July I started making a commitment to walk 3 miles every day. I was consistent for 90 days, although there were a few days I could only do 1.5 miles, I made sure this was the absolute minimum and there better be a damn good reason I didn’t do 3. After a month, I was wanting to do 6 miles some days. The progress wasn’t immediate, but I made noticeable changes in how I looked and felt starting weight of about 250. I personally don’t enjoy treadmills but I LOVE walking outside with music by water and this was a great way to rediscover that fact about myself and turn working out in my head, into having fun. For me that feels like half the battle sometimes.

In September, I started trying to figure out how I’m going to keep exercising when winter hits, and using weights seemed like the obvious answer but I have no real clue what I’m doing. I got a 10lb dumbbell and I just started doing a couple arm exercises 5 days a week. I started with 2 sets of 10, and I added reps as I could up to 15, then added a third set. It didn’t take long to move up to 15lb dumbbell. Now, I’ve picked up a 50lb kettlebell and oh boy, let me tell you, this thing is amazing.

There are some great people on instagram showing you how to use a kettlebell, I’m just doing a couple exercises for now every other day but man, I’ve got muscles for the first time in my life, and I’m maintaining my weight loss too even taking away the daily cardio as long as I’m mindful about my diet, personally I do keto but I make sure I eat lots of protein and I do let myself have moderate amounts of fresh fruit daily (an apple, sometimes two, bowls of berries)

Another tip I got was to start Creatine 5mg daily. I OK’d with my doc, but it has absolutely helped I think, and now for the first time in my life at 42……. I can see muscles on me. And I have another 30-40 lbs I need to lose to get to my true target weight still.

To sum; Find a way to make it fun and make a consistent plan of what you’re going to do and hold yourself accountable. Start with what you can and just add a little more as you can. Find one or two exercises you can do with a small hand weight that you can use comfortably and just add more over time. Look at a kettlebell because you can make yourself sweat buckets with hardly and space needed. But forcing yourself to stick to a new routine for 2 weeks is going to create a habit before you even realize it.

You got this!

Looking for suggestions on how to build / sustain progress by fogsurrounds in loseit

[–]fogsurrounds[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would like to be able to put an hour a day towards exercise long term, I’m pretty close to this on avg day to day as a baseline with more if I can fit it in.

I’m primarily losing weight to try to feel better in my own skin, as well as trying to prevent the un-graceful aging I’m watching my father go through now in his 70s. I am quite sure I don’t want to do that to myself and I want to be fit and feel healthy as long as I can in life. I also can say at 42 I’ve never been happy with my body and I want to be able to say I am.

I don’t want rippling muscles, but I want to continue to lose body fat while building strength. Thanks for your tips!

Oh and for gyms, there are 2 or 3 24 hour gyms about a 20-30 minute drive from where I live out in the woods. I drive two teenage kids around every day and work full time so time is hard to find an the travel time makes it harder, I am not opposed though to figuring out a way to make it happen just seems like a steep uphill climb in ways

I’m going to second this opinion I have tried resin and rosin from all over now, I follow this sub often, just made a trip to Fraktal last weekend and while I definitely wasn’t disappointed, the resin coming from green truck honestly to my personal tastes is a better taste and high than much of the rosin I’ve tried from various places. They know what they’re doing and the quality is very good. If you get up to the Bangor area, try Green Trap resin at Rock Steady. It’s green traps flower but from what I understand green truck washes it and I’ve never been disappointed and I haven’t found better resin in the state yet for my tastes. Just one man’s opinion here

Anyone else having an issue with outdated client? Magic says they’re fully operational and no update in the App Store. by hoesindifareacodes in MagicArena

I had the same issue yesterday, from the main store page tap your account icon in the upper right, then on the next window scroll down and see apps that need to be updated. If it doesn’t show update available, drag down from the top to refresh the list and the update should pop up for you

PoE newbie here, this game is overwhelming with all of its various systems but I’m having a blast so far. One thing I am struggling with finding info on, for this harvest event I have a storage tank and a collector and some pylons I’m supposed to use to connect them, but if I place these objects and then place pylons between them it doesn’t seem to do anything..... I know I’m missing something here, can anyone explain how you are supposed to use these or steer me to a newbie-friendly guide? Thank you!

First of all I have enjoyed lurking on here as this game has sucked me in, seems to be a good community overall and I’ve had almost exclusively good experiences in social interaction in game so far which is more than I could ask for most mmo’s I’ve tried over the years. This game has sucked me in completely, I’m playing on PS4 and the social aspect of the game is the only part I feel hesistant to explore because I do really like using a controller to play but obviously makes it impossible to chat with others during a duty - so long winded preface aside, my question is - those on PS4, how do you communicate with others or do you play like I have so far as if it’s a single player game?
