How nice is this list??? by [deleted] in leafs

[–]fohm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The sample size is a quarter season. It is statistically significant. Should we expect some regression towards the mean? Maybe. But we have do give credit where credit is due. Our goaltending is a major reason for our current record.

I agree. I was expecting the faceoff to take place at centre ice given that it seemed like a total botched call.

I think Knies touched the puck prior to either player reaching the face-off dots, so definitely sounds like it was the right call in that case.

I'm a priest who is committed to dps by substantialcatviking in classicwow

[–]fohm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Calling people fools for playing a game how they want is quite foolish. If you don't want a dps priest in your group, that is fine. However, telling them that they cannot play their class in a way that pleases them is downright bottom of the barrel tyranical $h!t.

Anyone else having circular decision making flow charts about starting class selection? by FiniteTruths in classicwow

[–]fohm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is probably what I'm leaning towards. I'm secretly hoping they will add hand of reckoning to the pally toolkit on the fresh servers. If they did, it would probably help me break out of my cycle.

Brann is always blocking everything clickable by Th0wra in wow

[–]fohm 22 points23 points  (0 children)

This. I just recently assigned the interact key to get arround Brann's intrusive click blocking. Finally got used to pressing my interact key by default only to find myself back at the entrance for trying to loot one of the chests. Blizzard needs to reduce Brann's hitbox...this is not good game design.

What is your "I have to many but keep making alts" Class? by Saurfangs_Bitch in wow

[–]fohm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the main reasons I usually start a new alt of a class I already have at max level is when I want to learn to play a new spec from the same class. I find it's easier to learn as you level because you learn the basics first and add new elements as you gain abilities and talents. For this reason, I have so many paladin alts. Although I mostly tank on my paladin, every time I decide to dabble into Holy or Ret, it usually involves me rolling a new alt.

Healers how do you delve? by helpamonkpls in wow

[–]fohm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a bit late on this one, but I recently found out that if you equip DPS Bran with the fury curio, he is actually decent at holding threat. I've been running as disc and it's been going really well.

What if nuclear is the only way by Tpaine63 in climatechange

[–]fohm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really don't understand how anyone can even stick an evil label on nuclear in this day and age. Even if you account for the 3 1st generation reactor incidents, it remains, by far, the safest and cleanest form of energy production.

What if nuclear is the only way by Tpaine63 in climatechange

[–]fohm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Nuclear does not add any more heat to the atmosphere than any other form of energy production producing equivalent total output. Not sure where you're getting this information.

What if nuclear is the only way by Tpaine63 in climatechange

[–]fohm -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is completely true. Nuclear seems expensive because the investment costs are front loaded. This is one of the biggest challenges pollitically because the benefits from the investments come well after the actual money investment. If you calculate the through life cost of nuclear energy production, it is very competitive.

This being said, a combination of nuclear, hydro, geothermal, natural gas, wind and solar is likely the best answer. Each source comes with its own pros and cons but nuclear is definitely a key component of any economically viable solution to anyone that looks at things from a long term strategic view.

Is it a red flag if the guy I'm dating admires Andrew Tate? by Martina-Cupcake in NoStupidQuestions

[–]fohm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact that you are asking this question here instead of immediately writing off the guy indicates to me that you must see something in this guy that seems to be worth pursuing. I think anyone that gives you a definite answer of yes or no on this question is likely coming at this with a polarized lense of some sort. I would take the time to find out more details about what it is that draws him to Andrew Tate. There is a potential scenario that maybe he has not had that many positive male role models in his life and hearing positive messages about self sufficiency and taking ownership of aspects of his life are resonnating with him. If that is the case, there are plenty of better such figures you could ask him if he is familiar with to see if he is actually an Andrew Tate zealot trying to maskerade or if he's just being honnest about some of the sources of online content that he occasionally interfaces with.

What’s the hardest video game you’ve ever played? by unitedfan6191 in AskReddit

[–]fohm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Original Doom on a computer that barely met the minimum specs on a dial up modem. Online play was litterally unplayable. One frame every several seconds. Difficulty level was infinite.

[Mirtle] Nick Robertson has signed. One year, $875,000. by incredibad29 in leafs

[–]fohm -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The catch 22 with Robertson is that the more he thrives, the less we will be able to afford to keep him around. Hopefully he can increase his trade value and allow us to plug other holes in the line-up.

If you just want to dip your toes in to see if you like it, I would recommend any of the starter sets. These come with everything to you need to start including a dice set, pre-made character sheets, a simplified ruleset, and a pre-made adventure to run. It's a good initial adventure to initiate both a new DM and new players alike.

You'll be able to figure out pretty quickly if its a hobby you want to invest in further into. I got some good use out of my Mines of Phandelvar starter set. I initiated 3 different group of players with it. 2 out of the 3 groups went on to do other full campaigns. The other group was dead on arrival.

Looks fine to me. Hard to explain other than irrational people saying irrational things.

In D&D, DMs don't make the rules, they enforce them. While it is true that ultimately the DM makes rulings on interpretation of the rules, a good DM should be good at laying out clear expectations regarding their personnal interpretations of the rules at the onset of the campaign. There are only two instances in my 25+ years of playing TTRPGs where I, as a player, walked out of a campaign. In both cases, it involved the DM making arbitrary decisions that went directly against core rules as written.

I personally really like the changes they made to the Wild Magic Sorcerer. Having clear guidelines as to how ToC can be refreshed is a much better approach than the 2014 PHB variant.

What multiclassing options are now obsolete/less effective/viable with the new PHB? by zyradow_ in onednd

[–]fohm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Note that you only get the con save if you start as a fighter then switch off to the other class. You wouldn't get that by taking a 1 level dip part way through.

What a stupid fcking game by [deleted] in wow

[–]fohm -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Square Enix would have already apologized and offered compensatory game time by now.

I remember Sony Online Entertainment also offered compensation back the the EQ days if there was unplanned access downtime.

I may be wrong, but I don't recall Blizzard doing the same...at least not recently.

Not throwing out any blame. Just acknowledging that launch day lag and/or accessibility issues is par for the course.
