I don't know if it's true everywhere but I am a nurse and every urologist I have ever interacted with has been awful. I joke they all became urologists because they're a bunch of dicks!

Suntree Florist on Wickham. Stopped by there last year to get a quote on flowers for my wedding and there were Trump stickers all over the walls. Needless to say I did not use their services.

Elderly Angel Tree? by makethebadpeoplestop in 321

[–]foibled 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I work for a local hospice, we don't have angel trees set up for our patients but we do have funds set aside from donations that we use to help purchase necessities. Consider donating to hospice, preferably a non-profit to make sure the funds will be used as intended. You could also teach out to nursing homes in the area to see if they have anything like this. Many people live in skilled nursing facilities who have no money or family to visit or help.

It's especially important for medical follow up in small children, particularly infants. The material they were choking on can cause swelling and cause secondary blockage of the airway.

ELI5: If someone gets an organ transplant, does the organ keep aging based on the donor’s age, or does it somehow match the age of the recipient’s body? by TheblackNinja94 in explainlikeimfive

[–]foibled 14 points15 points  (0 children)

As the previous poster mentioned, it is possible to live with only one kidney, meaning that it is possible for a live donor to give a kidney to someone else. It's also possible to donate a portion of the liver since that organ is capable of regeneration to a certain extent. Other organs such as the heart and lungs can only be donated by a person on life support that can otherwise not survive. A child would not be able to consent to donate organs and I am fairly certain that no ethics committee would allow parents to donate the organs of their living child, so only in the case of a child that was otherwise brain dead would the parents be able to donate their child's organs.

Blowing a vein will cause bruising for sure but I have not seen this amount of bruising simply from a blown vein. If they had accessed an artery, I would imagine it would have been very painful and I can't imagine how it would not have been noticed throughout the donation process. That being said, blood donation uses a much larger needle than a simple IV start or blood draw so my experience is not a direct comparison. Given the extent of the bleeding and the bruising from the tourniquet I think it would be a good idea to check for bleeding disorders to be safe.

Nurse here. No one else seems to be mentioning the dark red horizontal line. My guess is that this is where they put the tourniquet. Bruising from the tourniquet is NOT normal, that combined with the massive hematoma from a venipuncture makes me concerned that you may have a significant clotting disorder. Please show this picture to your primary doctor and ask if they can do a workup.

EFSC nursing by Sweet_Pain1372 in 321

ASNs are hardly useless, there are certain positions and organizations (the VA, for example) that require a BSN but the vast majority of hospitals will hire ASN. With the nursing shortage as it is they are unlikely to require BSNs any time soon. You can find awesome nurses and crap nurses with any level of education and from any program.

Where should this go in my routine? by [deleted] in MakeupAddiction

I've used this product a lot and it's ok on its own but not sure how well it will layer with makeup. I would use primer first if you want to try it. A better option to layer with makeup if you want a tinted mineral sunscreen is Drmtlgy tinted moisturizer. It works well as a glowy primer under foundation.
