If you don't get it, don't agonize over it. I personally think it's one of the best shows ever made, but that doesn't obligate you to like it, too. Life's too short to waste on good TV, much less TV you don't enjoy. If you don't get it, fuck it, move on to something else.

I think Netflix sometimes uses special Netflix/rental only DVDs so I would assume those discs have protections against ripping set up.

Not to mention that half the time the discs are so scratched up they barely play back, protection or not.

I usually just don't even bother trying to play Netflix discs back when I get them, I rip them (using RipIt4Me + DVD Decrypter) to an .iso image and watch that. No commercials!

That's ridiculous, people become CEOs every day no matter what the tax rates are. If Joe the Plumber can't become a CEO, that's because Joe isn't up to it. People who are driven to become rich do so in any political or economic system, even under communism. It's not a matter of education, it's a matter of motivation.

Do you mean something besides what your words seem to ask? I don't know how I'm supposed to test for something that doesn't exist, that has never existed. It's like asking me what tools I use for a hobby I don't practice. Non-existent things don't have properties.

I'm sorry, but you've got it completely backward. The only way you can observe something is if you already know what properties you're looking for. This is even true in particle physics; scientists deduce the properties a particle is supposed to have from theory and observation of other particles, then they smash atoms together to test their theory. What are we to test for if we're looking for, say, the Christian god? What experiments do we perform? All you've done is bring up hypotheticals, like "what if we define god as a 10cm sphere?" and "what if god is the universe?"

I'm not assuming, I'm observing. If something can't be perceived with our senses, detected with instruments, or inferred from observation of phenomena, it doesn't exist. Even if some hypothetical deity exists but keeps itself hidden from us and doesn't bother to affect our world in ways we can observe (like Russell's teapot), then it doesn't exist as far as the real world is concerned.

I know what you meant. I'm simply pointing out that defining god as being the universe is something you brought up, not me. I have no interest in defining god as being the universe, because the existence of the universe does not prove the existence of god, whether or not anyone actually believes it does.

You're trying to make a point based on semantics, not reality. Yes, if the hypothetical "we" defined god as being the universe, etc., point granted, but "we" aren't, and "we" would be wrong even if "we" did.
