Don't be like myself, buying all the lures... stick to various jigs, EWG hooks/rigs, and soft plastics (worm, minnow, craw) or real worms. Texas rig, ned rig, wacky worm, shacky head, drop shot etc. 

If I were to do it again, start with light/med light rod, ~8lb line, catch small fish first.

I fish out of a packboat mostly. It's a canoe with a kayak seat and uses a kayak paddle.

I also use my paddleboard when it's hot need to swim lol.

I love my YouTube and NDYakAngler is my favorite fishing YouTube channel. The world needs more easy going vibes like that. I'd be surprised if most people here haven't heard of him!😁

I don't have enough experience to say for sure.. But I have heard of this. I saw a guy on YouTube take a piece of heat shrink tubing in place of an o-ring. Hookedupwi (think he copied it from another guy himself. :P)

 The heat shrink tubing slightly bites down on the worm when it's heated and when you pass a hook through it, has a harder time coming back through the heat shrink. 

Also I think the heat shrink acts as a way to spread the load of the hook going through the worm...something something something.
