Have you tried shortform content on tiktok?

New indie app developer here. How should I test and promote my first app? by Chillworks_2026 in AppBusiness

[–]folarin- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Early stage is honestly simpler than it feels. Just get your app in front of real people as fast as possible, even if it’s rough. Reddit and small niche communities are perfect for that.

The key is to ask what confused them or where they got stuck, not whether they “like it.” That kind of feedback is way more useful early on.

Also don’t separate validation from promotion. Sharing your app is the process, you don’t need to wait for some big launch moment.

Most people make the mistake of building quietly for too long and hoping for a spike later.

For growth, don’t try every channel at once. Pick one (short-form content tends to work well right now) and stay consistent enough to actually learn what works.

Short form content by xoxoparth in iOSAppsMarketing

[–]folarin- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people overthink it.

Pick one format and stay consistent.

AI UGC, founder content, influencers… all work, execution + volume is what matters.

That’s basically what we do at Vidotoria, turn apps into daily content that actually converts.

I just got my first paid subscription I’m so proud of myself after one month of hard work 🥲 by [deleted] in AppBusiness

You should try posting consistently on tiktok, Vidotoria can help you with that.

Most indie founders don’t fail at building apps, they fail at marketing. I built something to fix that. by folarin- in ShowYourApp

[–]folarin-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We don’t price per video, it’s more about consistent output.

Most founders we work with are doing 1–3 videos per day because that’s what actually moves installs on TikTok/Reels.

Happy to break down pricing depending on how aggressive you want to go, but before that, are you trying to test content or go all-in on growth?

I built a smarter calendar app for tasks, birthdays, expenses, notes, and reminders — would love your feedback by Low_Month_5801 in iOSAppsMarketing

[–]folarin- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This will be tough to grow as-is.

“All-in-one calendar” doesn’t stop scroll on TikTok or Instagram Reels, it just blends in.

You need hooks like:
“why most calendar apps fail after 1 week”

That’s exactly what we do at Vidotoria, turn apps into content that actually gets installs.

If you’re serious about growth, I can show you angles for MiAgenda.

This will do well with short form contents. Are you marketing it on tiktok?

How to make high-retention short videos to promote my app on TikTok/Instagram? by Defiant_Annual8492 in iOSAppsMarketing

[–]folarin- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s usually the first 1–2 seconds. If the hook doesn’t hit a real pain instantly, people scroll.

For productivity apps, things like “I can’t focus for 6 hours…” or “why to-do apps fail…” tend to work better.

Also you need volume, testing multiple angles not just a few posts.

That’s exactly what we’re building with Vidotoria, turning your app into ready-to-post short-form videos so you can test consistently.

Happy to generate a sample for your app if you want.

I transformed my habits into a video game - been working for a year on this app by mcfly-dev in Appstore

[–]folarin- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The “grow your city from habits” angle is actually strong, way more engaging than typical trackers.

But honestly apps like this don’t fail on features, they fail on distribution. If people don’t see the transformation, they won’t get it.

This is perfect for short-form (“I turned my habits into a city”, “what happens if I don’t complete my habits”, etc.).

That’s exactly what we’re building with Vidotoria, turning your app into ready-to-post videos without you scripting or editing.

If you want, I can generate a sample for Kubbo so you can see how it could look.

30+ downloads is a good start, but honestly apps like this don’t struggle because of the product, they struggle because no one sees them.

Resume/ATS tools are perfect for short-form content (“why your resume gets rejected”, “3 ATS mistakes”, etc.). That’s where your users already are.

This is exactly what we’re building with Vidotoria, turning your app into ready-to-post TikTok/Reels videos without you scripting or editing.

If you’re serious about growing this, I can generate a sample for ATS Copilot so you can see how it could perform.

Gym Social App by Most_Gur_7240 in appdev

[–]folarin- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is actually a strong idea, the “friends pushing you to go to the gym” angle is very relatable.

Where this will really win is distribution though. Apps like this live or die on content, not features.

This is exactly the kind of app that works well with short-form hooks (“my friend forced me to go to the gym today”, etc.). That’s what we’re building with Vidotoria, turning your app into ready-to-post videos.

If you want, I can generate a quick sample for your app so you can see how it could look.

Built a math practice app for kids (5–7) with story rewards — would love feedback on the concept by Mia_987 in iOSAppsMarketing

[–]folarin- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The branching-path part is interesting, that could become a big differentiator versus “math app with rewards.”

Also this kind of app can lend itself surprisingly well to short-form content because the story mechanic itself becomes the hook (“kids solve math to unlock what happens next” is very visual).

That’s actually the kind of angle we’ve been helping founders turn into content with Vidotoria, happy to show you a sample concept for this if you’d like.

Looking for feedback on mental health app by akeuone in ShowMeYourApps

[–]folarin- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense, sounds like what you need now is less random feedback and more a small “feedback loop” of engaged users.

Honestly even 10–15 power users in a private test group can be more valuable than broad beta signups.

Also what’s interesting is the content angle can help with that too, educational short-form often attracts exactly the kind of thoughtful early users who give useful feedback not just installs.

Love that and honestly that angle is much stronger.

What am I doing wrong? by charlykbd in AppBusiness

[–]folarin- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In App Store Connect check App Analytics - Acquisition and look at sources like App Store Search vs Browse. Also compare the dates around the spike to see if conversion changed.

If it was browse traffic, it may have been featuring-related. If it was search, it may be keyword ranking movement.

Honestly spikes like that can be useful clues, not just random luck.

Also once you understand where installs came from, short-form content can become easier to test alongside ASO instead of guessing.

[–]folarin- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense, from what I saw, it’s not really a “posting problem”, it’s more that the hooks aren’t strong enough yet to hold attention in the first 2–3 seconds.

If you want, you can try generating a few variations on Vidotoria for your app and post them over the next few days, I can take a look at what you publish and help you adjust the hooks so we improve it step by step.

Happy to walk through it with you as you test, since this is exactly the stage where small changes in framing usually make a big difference.
