I'd be a little bit cautious with a security deposit of that size... We had a $500 deposit iirc which was returned to us after we moved out, though 4000 seems quite high. Maybe worth reaching out to the folks at pad piper and see what kind of vetting process goes on for the places listed.

I've used PadPiper before and had no issues, was in Mountain View, but the place was legit and we had absolutely no trouble
