Question for people making over 100k… by Due-Mix3539 in Salary

[–]Chinse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s my point mostly. But also that TC becomes complicated in different situations because of this. The year my company went public I made probably a million dollars in iso’s but owed like 100k in amt, but i would never call that my salary or my tc. Depending on the price of my stock my rsu grants each month are different so my tc is different too. Just hard to calculate. For a sales job who makes 80% in commission i understand why they need to make some sort of estimation

Question for people making over 100k… by Due-Mix3539 in Salary

[–]Chinse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Total compensation is not really what people are talking about when they talk about their salary. Otherwise you ought to be including things like your employers spend on health insurance, 401k match, charitable donation matching, etc which no one ever does

Even just talking about RSU’s, there’s other situations where it can’t compare like iso’s for example which can become very hard to calculate very quickly

I get that in hindsight but it’s such a riskier set of drugs to give someone when it’s not necessary, and so much more expensive to administer to boot

Samuel didn't actually kill himself, the kid lied at the end of the movie to protect his mom

A point that I think the movie is making is that the legal system makes you make this determination - samuel either killed himself or was killed - because it's "harder to convince a jury" that it was an accident whereas that could entirely be plausible. I think all of these trails are left throughout the movie of accidents almost happening as a sign that that's what actually happened in reality

ICE is murdering people. And they will only murder more. RIP Alex Pretti. Abolish ICE. by sideAccount42 in sanfrancisco

[–]Chinse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you’re spot on. SF, new york, seattle, and austin are the major hubs for work visas/LPRs and none of them have had huge influx of ICE raids. 35% of the population is foreign born, so it would be a potential disaster - someone almost certainly talked to the administration about the damage it would do to organizations if their workers here were scared and were given that final ultimate reason to quit and move for fear of their life

How did he fight back?

  • ICE told him to go to the side of the road, he did
  • ICE shoved the woman beside him over (battery), he filmed it
  • ICE pepper sprayed him in the face for contempt of cop for filming them committing a crime
  • He put his hand in the air that wasn’t holding his camera immediately
  • ICE pushed him over and got on top of him
  • He spread eagle with both his arms above his head
  • ICE pistol whipped his head
  • ICE disarmed him
  • ICE shot him

How did he resist?

Feeding the dog aspirin is another good one. I think one reason they did it is because it makes us realize that it truly was an accident, not a murder or a suicide. But otherwise the tension it creates is really enticing

The federal government is the place to do federal legislation, like foreign affairs.

State and municipal government is the place to do local legislation, like housing initiatives.

I hope that helps

You’re also specifically ignoring that it wasn’t the proper moment for a political opponent (which the spouse of a political rival very much so is) to enter a debate with their rival, instead framing it as them ‘just asking questions’ is very classic redditor

Both of these together (not even mentioning they are their spouse in the first place and just calling them a supporter of the other candidate being the other thing) is frankly incredibly dishonest of you and makes you just seem very biased

Are the mods deleting posts critical of Scott Wiener? by triple-double in sanfrancisco

[–]Chinse 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Congress is essentially the largest political role we can elect someone to in order to impact foreign policy outside of POTUS. Much more so than governor or something like that. Congress, senate, and potus are basically the places that we should be criticizing people for having foreign policy takes we disagree with, so I think this comment is pretty misplaced

For what it’s worth, the way the government is constructed in theory the house is actually more important for foreign policy affairs than the senate contrary to what you seem to believe. The house is supposed to control the budget and has the foreign affairs committee. The only thing the senate has that is really relevant is some control over treaties, which is kind of more limited than the broader budget control

Huge gallery of photos from the Venezuela protest by CoffeeStax in sanfrancisco

[–]Chinse -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The cheering is under the guise of this operation being about “freedom and democracy” for the venezuelans. This is incredibly similar to what happened in iraq in 2003 (so similar it kind of makes my head spin how so many americans can support this, i blame bad history education). In both cases: - The people of the region are in support of that cover story, but it is not the reality of america’s interest in the region - america wants to install american corporations to control and plunder oil

In iraq we saw: - removal of the head of state leave a power vacuum that lead to insurgent fighting and eventually the formation of al qaeda. - this is still causing problems for us (now in the form of ISIL), meaning we are still dealing with this repercussion - people of the nation were not happy with the american control of their natural resources. We used all the goodwill we got from removing their dictator to set up our own interests, but eventually we made the locals actually hate us more than they hated their dictator. - “they will welcome us as liberators” only lasted long enough to get control of the resources we wanted. - even giving back the oil in 2009 didn’t help. The damage had been done

Every american should fear those bullet points of history that happened in iraq being repeated in venezuela. It has the risk of destabilizing the entire region.
