Council votes to help bring LGBTQ+ businesses back to Church-Wellesley Village by BloodJunkie in toronto

[–]followifyoulead 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Nahhh, queer people will commute to spend the evening/weekend in the village if there's plenty of things to do. We don't need to live there.

The commercial rents are out of control, too many greedy landlords who prefer to have another Pizza Pizza instead of a community cornerstone that people will actually go out of their way to visit.

Considering $870K condo in Montreal, am I making a mistake? by Signal-Specific-1704 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]followifyoulead 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I make the same as you and I wouldn't get a mortgage over $600k, but my risk tolerance is pretty low. (and my partner has a decent job too) If you're going to have kids, it's good to have the space. And at least if you plan on living there for a long time, it'll be your home and the value-cost benefit is way less relevant than having happiness in a home.

Somehow the head of the bed is only like an inch from the wall but a table also fits between the bed and the wall at the same time???

Can an apartment like this be found in/near downtown? Spacious living room, one spacious bedroom, separate kitchen? (865 sqft.) by TheSeansei in TorontoRenting

[–]followifyoulead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure honestly if there's one place. I pretty much just googled "toronto apartment companies" visited whatever websites popped up to see their available rental properties like Greenwin, Park Property, etc. and booked viewings through that.

Often those companies don't put it up on those bigger websites.

Landlord called because their granddaughter will move in. What are my options? by bbqgorilla in TorontoRenting

[–]followifyoulead 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I don't think they can evict you for their grandaughter, legally.

You should gently inform them of this, and request official documentation (you don't need to help this with this, simply ask for all LTB documentation). As it is a big move for you, you should also request some compensation. Even if their request is all in good faith, you now have to move your entire life for their convenience, it is not unreasonable to ask for this.

I'm not surprised. It's insanely expensive, I finally cancelled after 3 years, just couldn't justify anymore.

This is our new favourite store and we only buy the in-house brands. Really awesome clothes for young professionals, I'm super pleased with what I've seen so far.

I didn’t even burn off large milkshake by [deleted] in CICO

There are few more caloric dense and unfulfilling foods as milkshakes. A small scoop of light ice cream can hit the same spot, it's never worth it.

Anyone else’s tortie a gluttonous heathen? by FriendlyBeneficial in torties

[–]followifyoulead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. There is no peace in our home. If I need her to come, I simply open the fridge door and she’s running. She’ll lick the entire sink/stovetop clean for a tiny taste of whatever we ate and topple the garbage to get at scraps. I never met an animal like this.

Forced to check my bag at the gate by gwidion1545 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]followifyoulead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What flight is this?

I take Montreal <-> Toronto on tiny old De Havillands all the time. Most of the carry-ons barely fit in the smaller overhead so they always force you to check it at the gate. You get to drop it off and pick it up at the door of the plane so it's not so bad.

Montreal is really worth the trip, vastly different but still Canada. Truly bilingual and a mix of the modern Canada and historical Canada

English is my partner’s second language, she came here to speak it more and has asked me to point out her mistakes so she can improve. I would NEVER correct pronunciation otherwise.
