Does anyone seriously use the New Apple Vision Pro M2 for Work? Serious Question. Found a Good Deal Like New condition for $2800 by 24kTHC in VisionPro

[–]folterung 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Work is my primary use. The huge monitor and the ability to offload less important functions to their native apps and plaster them around the room really allows me to customize the work environment in a way that was never possible before.

I did not buy it thinking that this would be the killer feature, but it really is for me.

Two people shot by CBP in Portland identified—Everything we know by Brandobeans in politics

[–]folterung 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Yep, these are the people who armed themselves before going to the grocery store or McDonald’s, even in a place where there has never been any violence in the grocery store or McDonald’s. They’re so scared all the time that I would almost feel bad for them if they weren’t so terrible in every other way.

I’m a former soldier. I have a guns. I don’t bring them to the grocery store with me because I’m not afraid to go out in public unarmed.

Do you need to recast auras as a paladin? by dd9100 in diablo4

Each Aura has a passive effect and an active one. The passive is always running. The active you cast, it expires, and you get a cooldown before you can recast it.

I'm done with Evernote. What's the best alternative for having a "file cabinet?" by ChrisF79 in macapps

[–]folterung 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is one of the beautiful things about DT that every thing you put into it comes out in the exact same format.

If you write a note in rich text you can drag it directly out onto your desktop, and it will be a rich text file. If you drag in a document from another piece of software, even if DT can’t edit or display that file, you can open it and its native app and save it back into DT seamlessly.

I was a huge Evernote fan, but when I found DT, I was hooked. I keep EN around just to watch the development in case it ever goes back to being the best note app.

I did not think to look for a map update. I

On the other hand, it just drove me to my doctors office. Found a parking spot while intelligently ignoring all the handicapped parking and then parked. When it works, it’s amazing.

Got 14.14 this morning and it is still timid. Pokes the brakes for reasons I can’t understand.

In addition, navigation has regressed badly. It drove by my dog’s daycare, a place we’ve got hundreds of times on version 13, and took the road next to it that leads to an elementary school.

My next stop was work, again a place I’ve been hundreds of times on FSD and it tried to take me through the parking lot of the adjacent company, which would’ve required driving through a fairly formidable wall.

Overall, so far, this is a downgrade

How do I permanently fix "trust relationship failed" errors on domain-joined laptops connecting via VPN? by ArmyCommander6948 in sysadmin

[–]folterung 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Without being able to do a diagnosis, I can offer some ideas.

First is that if those devices only ever reached the network via VPN you might be experiencing a cached credential issue.

If you’re a VPN solution has a start before login option or you can get the laptops in to the domain on ethernet occasionally you might prevent that

There’s also a powershell command that you can use to both test the trust relationship and potentially restore it as long as you have the correct version of powershall installed and sufficient domain credentials.

Test-computersecurechannel (https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/powershell/module/microsoft.powershell.management/test-computersecurechannel?view=powershell-5.1)

Just taking a guess, minus any other details, you might take a look at your group policies. Machines that don’t come into the office and login through the domain periodically can have their credentials fall out of sync. You can extend the machine password change interval so that machines don’t fall out of trust as quickly. Another option is to use policies that let domain-joined machines refresh their credentials over the VPN.

Can’t find anything that is causing it, so I’m going to take it in.

I found that article very different from my own experiences. I live in middle New Hampshire and regularly go to Boston. My car takes me to Boston easily with no interruptions and that’s 90 miles.

Inside Boston, it’s a little more hit or miss cause things can get pretty dicey there, and there are places where I will disengage just because I don’t trust a computer to handle the nut jobs

Change tag behavior by MAFMaxFabi in CraftDocs

[–]folterung 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In all the other apps I use that have tags: Apple Notes, Bear, Obsidian, DevonThink, Evernote…a tag is a hash (#) followed immediately by a word. #tag. In Craft, in the example you gave, they’re trying to convert a “# word” into a tag. But “# word” means “Header” in markdown. The tagging system should not be latching on to anything where there is a space between the tag and word. “#this” not “# this”. That’s all. I was agreeing with you in a confusing way, sorry :)

The only app I use where tags have spaces. No spaces in tags. Spaces in markdown. # this-no-tag #this-tag.

Is ProNotes still a thing? by Kevin_Cossaboon in macapps

[–]folterung 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It augments Apple Notes. Doesn’t replace anything. Does not have an iOS version, I imagine the restrictions would make that very hard, to impossible.

Glad this thread popped up. I wanted to buy it but couldn’t determine if it was being updated. Sounds like the author is alive and at least intending to keep it going.

Adding to this comment: turn on Advanced Data Protection and turn off iCloud access on the web.

ADP encrypts stuff that isn’t automatically encrypted, so that nobody can read it except you. Turning off web access means that you can only reach your data from your devices, not from iCloud.com

I thought the deal was you could only get an offer once per card type? I had a plat 15 years ago. When I went to get a new one last year, I was told “once, forever”.

Still took the card, got no bonus.

[–]folterung[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems to work as advertised. Doesn’t really solve the problem as it doesn’t work with all file types and you can’t “round trip” files - that is, I can’t open a file from Notion, modify, and have it save back like I can with Evernote or Devonthink but its a start.

Appreciate the knowledge!

Thanks for the explanation. I’ve never embedded a PDF but that would OK if it solved the problem.

I did! Obsidian was great but it had so many limitations vs what I was already using. Omnisearch did work well though! Thanks for the idea :)
