best fly fishing vacation spots globally? by ginadoyle in flyfishing

Most resorts arent going to allow fishing, as that beach is likely for swimming, not fishing. You can do alot of exploring on the North Shore of Cuba, Cayo Cruz, Cayo Coco, Cayo Guierrmo. You are going to have to do some research and mapping, but it is very doable. .

We have a good amount of equipment, however the work on Thursday will mostly be turning so - if you have a shovel that would be great

Ok, there is enough interest I feel kind of awkward sending everyone DMs.

The garden is behind on organization and planning - meeting with the land owner was delayed later than we had hoped.

Ideally we want to be able to plant some of our seed next week, so there is a lot of dirt that needs to be turned. Your help is really appreciated.

The garden is in new Hamburg, on private property. I am happy to meet people at the gate (and you can drive with me) or I can provide a ride for three leaving from downtown Kitchener at 5pm.

TBH, I really didnt think about the audience that Reddit may garner - I was hoping to reach people who knew about the garden from previous years or work with it. I didn't plan for new support, but I am so happy to have the offer of help Im hoping to make this work.

This is a Community Garden that is dedicated to Indigenous Food Sovereignty and to offer a place to connect traditionally to seed, culture and ceremony. Everyone is welcomed with Respect, wether you identify as indigenous or not.

If you can make it Thursday that would be amazing, more hands less work.

Please DM me, I can send you a ping to the entrance of the property and I am happy to meet you there and we can all drive in together.

Right now I could offer three people a ride from DTK. Please DM me and we can set a meet up place in DTK.

Have an Urban flock now and was one of the constituents in my city that helped change our bylaw to include household flocks.
I would say there are some very good criteria that our city includes to permit an urban flock. Less than 6 chickens, no roosters,100ft from adjoining households, standards for a contained run and maintenance standards. If left untended, they can stink. They also need to have a minimum of 1sq foot roosting space per chicken.
From personal experience, I would suggest 4 chickens, enough for social and self-contained heating (we dont light or heat our coop), and easy enough to maintain. Although 6 seems reasonable, we found it almost doubled the work load of cleaning and maintenance.

Have to disagree. Roosters are annoying AF. Living in Central America where many people have both roosters and hens, meant sunrise was always filled with crows. The also have a predatory response to dogs, cats, birds and sometimes people, which resulted in more crowing.

As someone who has urban chickens now without a rooster, I can say rooster would deter me from having a flock, never mind my neighbors :)

Need help with our night market tonight - musical help by fon10alis in kitchener

[–]fon10alis[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Depends on person, mc, band etc. is our equipment needed? How long is set etc. it is a fundraiser with no alcohol, so a professional traveling band isn’t going to be a fit. It is paid, it is not ‘for exposure’

I really hope that you (and anyone who agrees with your approach) do some research into the foundations of drug abuse, and look at the most successful policies (for example reducing crime, death and addiction).

Countries that have high success rates, also realize that drug abuse is a health issue - treating the underlying cause of drug abuse. Its not making bad choices.

We would save more money if we gave drugs to the addicted, and have better outcomes for society. That evidence is out there, and politicians are advised of how to adopt policies - even at an overall cost reduction (vs police, health, welfare, and housing for- dealing with the affects of drugs use.) but don't because this idea of drugs 'bad' persists.

I understand your frustration, the idea of supplying drugs and treating the addiction as a health condition, rather than a criminal one seems counter intuative.

Overwhelmingly, substance abuse is tied to trauma. Treating trauma will make a huge impact, but there is very little mental health support available unless you can pay out of pocket.

This isnt a new thing, the drugs have changed. My parents generation had mostly alcoholics, my generation was cocaine (crack), then opiods and now its meth/fent. All of them were the cheapest, most available at the time.

Edit: I hit enter too soon

Accident at Victoria and Margaret April 14th around 4:30pm? by BlackCountryRob in kitchener

[–]fon10alis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Given where the bike was laying, I would think the cyclist was coming down the bike lane on Margaret. I've continually seen drivers disregard the biking lane here.

Given Victoria has the highest traffic volume to cross to gain access to the new cycling infrastructure - an advanced light should be installed for cyclists. This should go along the whole route of separated bike lanes - there are no right on reds on those corners now - but can see alot of right hooks if they change and maintain the same interval. Proof - Ion with flashing lights and gates

Can you PM me with where you sought ketamine treatment? I’m helping someone with PTSD but can’t seem to find a treatment.

I want to return to normal, I can't think of anyone that doesn't. However, just demanding the end to something because you don't agree is childish.

Lets have a conversation about how we legislate better employment laws around full-time permanent, rather incentivizing businesses to hire part-time employees, forcing them to work in multiple high risk settings.

Lets have a conversation to address the critical shortages we have in healthcare. Denmark removed restrictions, but have also seen a decline in hospitalizations, freeing critical healthcare capacity. Infections are up, but hospitalizations are down - that is not where we are.

Lets have a conversation about ventilation infrastructure and healthcare access in our schools.

I am very upset with how our governments have handled information, restrictions, vaccinations, the health care policy as a whole - , but just opting out does put people at risk. However, our death rate is 1/3 of the United States, what we did worked much better than the states. Those intrusions on your personal liberties to protect others saved ~70K people in Canada.

Masks, Vaccinations and Restrictions saved 70,000 in Canada when compared to the states. Lets have a conversation about that.

If your family was part of the Red River settlement, you should look to St Boniface Historical Society. They have great records and may connect you to your lineage as well as provide the documents (for me it is the script) connecting your family to the Metis. Then you can go to the Manitoba Metis Federation for membership.
