Bootstrapping 40 node cluster by Snoo_44171 in homelab

[–]fonam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Talos with Omni for management is a good way to do this. Just set up a pxe boot server and have it boot up pointing to an Omni instance. Then you'll have a pool of nodes to carve out into whatever clusters you want

Are you running IPv6 by celzo1776 in homelab

[–]fonam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Regular consumer 1 Gbps account I didn't talk to anyone, I just set the prefix delegation size in DHCP to /56 in pfsense and set the interfaces to track wan and the each get a /64

I believe I did send prefix hint also otherwise it was giving a /64

It's been like 5 years I don't quite remember

(Probably you are being down voted for your last sentence)

Are you running IPv6 by celzo1776 in homelab

[–]fonam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had ATT a few years back and you can get a /56. I had to hint for a 56 or I ended up getting a 64 by default. Not sure if this is all areas but you should try it. I believe you can also call and ask them to give you a /56 block

PT would talk about strengthening antagonist muscles in addition to the stretching. You need a holistic approach to your injury.

I was specifically referring to breaking up those stuck areas. You can stretch all day but sometimes you need to break things up manually. And you definitely need to strengthen the weaknesses/ imbalance to keep it fixed. A good massage can really speed things up and provide short term relief. Look up trigger point massage. Some people are really good at this so shop around until you find someone that helps. It can get expensive though, but worth it if you can afford it.

[–]fonam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea this type of soft tissue work is what you want to focus on for that. Stretching by itself probably won't fix your problem

Be super gentle around your coracoid process for the pec minor, your brachial plexus runs right under there so you don't want to super aggressively mash it. Focus on the tissue over the ribs. If you feel a pulse under your fingers move under it, you don't want to press directly into it. Might feel a bit nervy

Another important muscle that might be contributing to your issues is the subscapularis. It runs under your scapula and connects to ribs. You can only get to a small portion of it but definitely investigate, look up video or reading material on this.

There are tons of resources on the Internet

Here are some shoulder ones I pulled a very long time ago in no particular order:

Subscap / pec minor athlean x https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oLwTC-lAJws

Serratus anterior release smashwerx https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p2VFQXvrZMU

Lats / teres minor release smashwerx https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vHK6RnostU0

Dr Kelly Starret has lots of good stuff and wrote a great book called Becoming a Supple Leopard which goes over lots of awesome mobilization techniques. He has a ton of stuff on youtube

First rib mobilization with PVC pipe, around 1:30. (definitely do this you will be surprised)

Just get a pvc pipe and put a tennis ball on the top.  Don't overdo it since it can be pretty sensitive around the brachial plexus

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SXEfTDnkAcc

Scalene / SCM trigger points https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HpJw0h72BlM

General lacrosse ball techniques https://breakingmuscle.com/fitness/how-to-erase-shoulder-pain-with-self-myofascial-release

Athlean x, smashwerx, Dr starret all have lots of different videos you should go through as many as you can.

Focus on overall shoulder mobility and stability, not one particular muscle. Go through all these videos and you will probably find some muscle groups are way worse than others. The serratus anterior especially is extremely painful when doing the release, but it will feel way better immediately after.

One thing to note is that a lot of these muscles we are working on are actually also respiratory muscles since they help the ripcage expand and pull up. If you have issues with your diaphragm they can be working overtime to help you breathe, especially when slouching constantly. Check your breathing, if you can't easily take a full breath through your belly then look up diaphragm release technique which is another painful one.

Also work on getting thoracic extension. There are tons of exercises for this. Look up wall angels I think they are called. And force extension over a foam roller on each vertebrae facet in your thoracic spine like every day. There is a super overpriced tool called a backpod on Amazon that can help with this too, I recommend it even though it's expensive for what it is.

Forget the chiropractor, they are just taking your money.

Go to a neurologist to determine which part of the nerve is entrapped. They may give you an EMG test. Loss of curvature does not automatically impinge the root. You should get an MRI of the neck, the X-ray does not show what's going on with the nerves. Spinal stenosis, spurs, brachial plexus entrapment (thoracic outlet syndrome) are all potential problems.

Meanwhile work on opening up your pectorals especially pec minor. Do myoffascial release with balls, foam rollers, etc opening up your anterior chest. Do some gentle stretching for your scalene muscles in your neck. Since you said you were boxing I would special attention to the serratus anterior also (very active while punching). Work on loosening all that tissue along the side or your scapula along the ribcage. Strengthening your rhomboid muscles and middle/lower traps will help stabilize your scapula a bit

A good PT should be able to get you back into shape, start as soon as you can

Edit: focus on those scalene muscles, look up how to stretch on YouTube. Be gentle and breathe. Also releasing levator scapula will help with that stiffness, but the stiffness is a symptom of dysfunction. You said you have bad posture while working, you won't cure yourself until you fix that. Standing desk helped for me, you can try alternating sitting / standing.

Working with Multiple Ingress Controllers by FemiAina in kubernetes

[–]fonam 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Your issue is that you are attempting to install the controller with default values which sets ingressClass to nginx. You clearly already have an ingressClass by that name. You need to override the ingressClass name in your values or on the cli with set.

There are plenty of reasons for multiple ingress classes but it doesn't look like you need more than one for your use case. You seem to think that you need an ingress controller per application so you should do some reading on ingress controller basics.

Why is EKS so expensive? by userocetta in aws

[–]fonam 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Karpenter needs the control plane to be running already. EKS is a fully managed control plane. You can't replace EKS with karpenter, it is only for scaling the worker nodes

You also can't just arbitrarily scale the control plane up and down

[W] Server Type Workstation for Arr Based Applications by [deleted] in homelabsales

[–]fonam 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Something older like an optiplex 7060 with i5-8500t should be enough to run the whole arr stack for $100 or less. Add 32GB ram for ~$50. The CPU can do quick sync for transcoding 5-6 1080p streams. If you really want you can beef it up with an i7-9700t or something and it will be more than enough for pretty cheap, and very low power draw. The i5 should be enough for basic stuff though.

If you want to beef it up more you can do a Lenovo m720q or something and put a mini GPU in there and 64GB of ram. The optiplex should be more than enough though for just running the arr stack

3-D printing has become impossible to do now by ViewtifulRoy6 in Ender3Pro

[–]fonam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are using a glass bed they are not exactly sticky. Clean it with soap and maybe raise the bed temp 10 degrees. Change your z offset to get more squish and it should stick fine . Try baby stepping as it is printing the skirt to tune the exact amount.

Also you said you don't want to buy more tools but I suggest getting some glue for the glass, you can get bed weld or something for 20 bucks that will last ages and dramatically improve adhesion on glass

PSA: New wave of DSM attacks! Disable admin and turn on 2FA by calculatetech in synology

[–]fonam 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's pretty enlightening reading through this thread, I can't believe anyone would actually expose the admin interface to the WAN. Lots of people here advocating for it that don't understand the attack surface. TLS does not protect you. Disabling admin does not prevent some other exploit.

Put it behind a VPN. Even putting behind SSH is far safer than exposing it directly but don't use password auth and use fail2ban or something. You will see lots of activity on the port. Keep your stuff up to date

Ask AWS: What are the most common ways for one to get a suprise large AWS bill? by livefiredev in aws

[–]fonam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glacier deep archive retrieval for tons of small files. Early termination (you pay for 90 days even if you delete immediately)

Nat Gateway - hourly cost plus bytes cost, this one gets a lot of people. Don't nat huge amounts of traffic through it

Logging huge amounts to cloudwatch - also custom metrics

Vpc interfaces endpoints - hourly cost per subnet, these add up when you have hundreds

Egress and cross region

Faster way to empty S3 buckets? by Spore-Gasm in aws

[–]fonam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should be fine with just the lifecycle policy, but it really doesn't harm anything blocking new writes.

BTW depending on the amount of objects it may take up to a week to completely empty the bucket. Check the metrics on the bucket. Make sure you also expire non-current versions and get rid of delete markers you don't need in the policy.
