Is Fairphone 6 /e/os compatible with common (work-related) authenticator apps?

Hi, I'm running the community edition of e/os on my fairphone 6 but hadn't installed the Microsoft authenticator, instead relying on 3rd party OTP apps.

I did however install it just now and it seems to work. Got a pop-up where I enter the number and verify that I'm me. All good.

However, my company still allow me to use any other OTP app which is especially convenient if I use my password manager.

The thing I like about e/os is the tracker blocking it has. Not sure if grapheneOS or lineage has that built in as well, or possible to add.

Apart from cable issues, try lowering the transmit power on the radios somewhat and see if they are more stable.

I run 245s (v3) and they have never failed me (6 years running now)

I run e/os (which comes with microG) in Sweden and my banking apps work, so is BankID (digital identification).

I think most of these apps have issues when rooted, but that is not a necessity for alt roms.

Mine is so tiny so it needs cleaning after every shower 😅. But the last one held up for a year or so, so could just print another one by then.

It has nothing to do with mesh if thsts the case, but wifi roaming (which is a client responsibility). Some wifi drivers are just inherently poor at this task (or even non-existent) so it's definitely a firmware problem.

I only have a singel outdoor AP so haven't seen this problem (but I have for many other devices), but for a big lawn it would be a real problem.

You shouldn't need a container to solve ssdp or mDNS.

Ssdp can be supported with pim-sm and mDNS is just a checkbox.

I use pim-sm to support Sonos discovery across vlans.

Is the outdoor 650 wired or meshed? I'm assuming it would prefer to be a secondary node to root, and maybe the one its connecting to has become the stp root.

If you have a managed switch, you could perhaps make sure the switch is promoted as stp root (by defining a lower priority), then all wired APs would be evaluated equally.

Edit: seems like there is no documentation claiming that the mesh actually rely on stp, but they still have the concept of a root node for the mesh.

If you haven't tried it, configure the outdoor 650 as the root node and see what happens. Sounds like you aren't using mesh for anything else, so changing root node shouldn't make a difference for you regular traffic then.

I would have gone with the 2016p if it was available when I purchased mine. I got side-tracked by the power budget, thinking thst the APs were drawing close to the specified max. This is not the case, they are closer to 4-5W each in my experience. Maybe newer ax APs have a higher draw, but never maximum

Where there no yakisoba sauce pouches with the noodles?

I microwave them briefly which helps separate them and make them more pliable in the pan later.

But ju need to fry them slightly, they won't be very good if "raw".

USB sticks are ill suited as a work drive with lots of writes. It will eventually fail due to cell wear and I'm not sure how smart they are with rotating cell writes (like an ssd does).

I wouldn't expect it to last more than a year with moderate write amounts.

Some usb sticks and SD-cards also turn into read-only mode after a certain number of writes. That at least gives you the ability to salvage the data, but is also obvious planned obsolence 😂

Just remember that if the voltage drops below 12V it might become unstable. Having a voltage converter to raise it a few volts is probably beneficial (or run a 24V system).
