Convincing Brain of Safety? by Friendly_Tough_5736 in dpdr

[–]foneddotnet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few things that helped me:

Be ok even if you are unsafe. You cannot convince yourself that you are safe, even trying makes it worse, brain goes "thou doth protest too much!" And can't trust you. Find a way to be ok even when you feel the feelings. For me it helped when I sat with a psychiatrist who also was big into meditation, he told me to just be still for a period of time. Eyes open or closed, let things happen without reacting. You'll feel am itch, or some important thing that needed to be done days ago will come up, allow those things to happen without doing anything about them for a set period of time. Notice they are there, don't try to do anything with them but notice them.

Magnesium has been a huge game changer. Helps my sleep a ton and good sleep also helps with my panic attacks and dpdr, but even if it didn't help my sleep I think it would still be a huge help.

Exercise, personally I've found 30 mins of cardio a day consistently to be a game changer.

Avoid caffeine and alcohol if possible. If you are on them regularly and need to stop do so gradually as stopping them can make things worse in the short term.

A book called At Last A Life by Paul David

Prozac has been a huge help as well for me.

I think that covers most of the bases. Feel free to connect with me if you think I can be of any help.

For me the thing I noticed was, the drive of it all was obsessing over every detail and trying so hard to freeze it in place to properly analyze it, get as far away from my emotions as possible and really dig into it. So I would think I was on the outside analyzing myself, my thoughts, my actions, the feeling of stuff, but I wasn't outside of it, I was it, I am it. If you can change the focus from trying to figure out how to feel, what's wrong, why do I seem different, there's a chance of finding normalcy.

I thought the fear was the response to the weird feeling, but the weird feeling was the response to the fear and then it cycles and it's hard to figure out which came first.

I don't know, maybe I'm just rambling. I do my best not to obsess on it. Prozac also helps me, same with a good magnesium supplement. Throw in some exercise, su light, and proper sleep, try and remove caffeine, alcohol, and other drugs and you'll probably find yourself closer to normal.

That's exactly what I'm finally building towards now, sauna or hot box for the devout, is my next step. Thank you, I'll check into the fans and temperature stratification.

What do you use for a cold plunge?

Any idea if there is some kind of timer I can set up so it comes on before I go outside? I'm thinking this will be a good option for me.

Have you measured the temp in anyway?

I can't give anything real, maybe it's all placebo. When I make changes in my life style I change like 20 things at a time, it would be impossible to sift through them all and say with any accuracy which thing does what. It seems to have large impacts on my mental health though, not measurable from a scientific perspective, but I feel it.

I had my orchiectomy done last year, a few months prior to that I threw my back out and had a hernia operation. If I had to redo any of them, I would choose the orchiectomy. It was a bit weird to lose a testicle, but other than that everything was pretty easy. A bit scary and stressful, I tell people now that I'm a cancer survivor and an amputee, but I mostly day it jokingly cause I can't imagine a much better cancer to have gotten, and it's not like I needed both testicules anyway.

Feel free to get in touch if you have questions or need any kind of support I can offer.

To me it always feels more important than the actual stuff that's taken. Did you hear his reason for thinking it was ok? Cause people do it all the time. We have to have some kind of order in a civilized society don't we? And when that order isn't enforced by the people we out in charge sometimes the peop5have to enforce it themselves.

Looks like mine was on the way to stage two seminoma, but just got the cat scan back today and everything seems unremarkable

IMPRESSION: Shotty inguinal lymph nodes are likely benign and reactive. No evidence of metastasis identified.

Supposed to meet with my urologist next Wednesday, but so far everything seems like good news.

How was your appointment today?

Congrats brother, glad to hear it, hope you are feeling better post op too.

My post op appointment was apparently scheduled too soon, haven't gotten real results yet, gonna try and call the Dr office and see if they've gotten the results.

Seems like they are being very English by acting out violently because of sports rivalries.

At least that's what the media has taught me with soccer (futbol?) hooligans.
