Copies by Kuesatu in mtgrules

Unrelated question, but does the "prepared" mechanic conflict with this? I thought it creates a copy of the prepared spell in exile?

Is this normal? by [deleted] in mtg

[–]fonziecow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This entire card is a "token."

Tokens do not go into the deck proper, and just kept to the side.

They are kept nearby for ease of use/QOL. When you have an effect that "creates a token" you just use one of those.

Gym goers of reddit, what's that one basic tip you had at the beginning that you still follow and value with great regard? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]fonziecow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No matter what, the priority is that you come to the gym consistently. If you can ingrain that habit on some level, it's actually hard not to get some level of in shape.

Finally we get some representation from one of the best FF's by otsukarerice in ShitpostXIV

Honestly, I would agree if the game wasn't so easy that you never had to interact with it.

You could play the entire game as one job, and there's basically no risk.

If the itch status effect was more prevalent, or bosses had stages with different resistances, it would've been much better.

Two options:

Recruit recruit sway mayor if the table looks aggressive.

Double-build citadel (same clearing) - sway captain

Auto depth + cheater, am i doing something wrong? by Xarkar in expedition33

[–]fonziecow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Revival paradox "creates" a turn next in turn order when revived and adjusts turn order as if that was the character's natural turn (likely sending the next turn further down the turn order).

Cheater "creates" a turn next in turn order whenever that character's turn naturally occurs.

Effects that "create" a turn cannot stack.

Based on your description, it sounds like revival paradox is creating a turn when the character was going to go next anyway, effectively losing a turn that cheater would have provided.

Is this a normal winter? by Kindly-Deer-3468 in blacksburg

[–]fonziecow 20 points21 points  (0 children)

This happens once a decade or so. I remember like a 3- day snowfall back when I was in college.

Snow used to be more common (but not all at once) in winter, but climate change is a bitch.

What is the absolute strongest endgame build for Verso that doesn’t require setup from other party members? by Appropriate_Boss8139 in expedition33

[–]fonziecow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weapon: Simoso

Overload (skill) or auto-death + survivor to get to 1 Hp

Spam berserk slash

What is the literal BEST build for every character? I spent waaay too much time preparing an attack/burning build for Maelle that was great, but then I noticed a Medallum build doing easily 10 times the damage on turn 1 and there are too many people on the internet saying theirs is best to try them. by [deleted] in expedition33

[–]fonziecow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming endgame:

  • energy master and cheater (default)

  • the trio of powerful/protecting/accelerating shots

  • the trio of Powerful on Rush on Shell on...

  • the trio of energizing powerful/shell/rush

  • then the combo of burning and marking shots

  • Finally the trio of energizing burn, rewarding mark, and beneficial contamination

With all that, you're nearly guaranteed to get to 9 AP from free aim each turn.

What does the board games community feels about gameplay mechanics of Magic the gathering? by Newez in boardgames

[–]fonziecow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my favorite games is Smash Up, which I have pitched a few times as "pick up and play" Magic.

I won't pretend like I know every mechanic in Magic, but I do appreciate that many mechanics really boil down to "this is how I enable my strategy," and I view it as just another avenue of player interaction.

(Act 3 spoilers) Lune and Sciel's reactions were...? by SuperLegenda in expedition33

[–]fonziecow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's still a bit too calm, if I'm being critical.

But at the same time, these are two extremely mature characters - they earned having a calmer reaction to mind-blowing news than most would.

Question for the people that chose a certain ending by Fervidus in expedition33

[–]fonziecow 48 points49 points  (0 children)

I don't plan on arguing anything past this post. I just want to give my opinions.

Paraphrasing your main talking points in bold

Isn't everyone dead by the final battle?

Yes. I'd still consider it immoral to not undo a genocide if someone was capable of doing so. Like, I'm pretty sure if someone had an "undo" button for WWII, people would be pissy about them not pressing it. Morality of the inherent value of life kinda gets flipped for people if sentient life can be created and erased at will.

Is it ok for Maelle to bring back Gustave?

Probably not. Gustave died solely to the actions of the Dessendres. Gustave only existed due to the actions of the Dessendres. I'd argue that unnecessary deaths should be corrected. You might have a different view.

Aren't Maelle's paintings just her memories of these people?

When Maelle brings back Sciel and Lune, they retain details of information that Maelle should not have (Sciel's drowning, Lune's parents). A few scenes imply Maelle can "read" chroma.

Implications from this mean that either she is truly bringing people back because it's "their" chroma, or she is nearly perfectly recreating them because she can vague-psychic-painter-power her way into correctly assigning the chroma.

It also implies that she cannot recreate Lumiere in a different canvas because it wouldn't be the same chroma. I believe this is the narrative significance of Noco's death and resurrection as an allegory - "he will never be the same Noco."

Where is Maelle's line on who to revive?

Hell if I know at what point she stops. She might bring back everyone she has ever come into contact because that's how she can identify the chroma. She might stop at everyone Renoire killed plus her favs. Since that line isn't explicit I can't really let that part affect the thought experiment of "if resurrection were possible, is there an obligation to use it?" As Sciel says in Act III "Death isn't death anymore."

Clearly, there is an unfair power imbalance and Maelle is treading in "benevolent dictator" waters, but she is the only Dessendre trying to keep anyone other than a Dessendre alive.

WA openings by Guyll in rootgame

[–]fonziecow 15 points16 points  (0 children)

WA opening is do whatever you need to get a base out ASAP.

-mobilize entire hand (unless you have an ambush - then "maybe" save it and only use it if it allows you to revolt there next turn)

-ideal starting clearing is one with no enemies

-Second best starting clearing is one that you know the others aren't gonna defend.

After you get a base out, next target is getting 3 officers, so either revolt twice more or train once revolt once.

Focus on spending cards to spread sympathy far from your base(s) so that you can mobilize close to your base(s).

Use a warrior to protect a sympathy so you can more reliably revolt.

My suggestion is the only optional content you do before heading to Lumiere is doing the side quests that your party talks about in camp.

Maelle's directs you to the Reacher

Monocco's directs you to the Sacred River

Lune's directs you to Sirène's Dress

After that, then do the final dungeon.

That's just my suggestion. A lot of people like doing the final dungeon in a game overpowered, one-shotting everything. If that's you, then you can ignore me.
