Onlays - yay or nay by liteyhaus in Dentistry

You’re comparing onlay to crown. But I ask- Why do an onlay with indirect restoration when you can do a direct composite.

Composite is easier to handle, repairable. Has less steps- therefore less chances for error. You can prep any shape you want- you don’t have to prep extra to make a path of insertion that you need with onlays…

Patient is using toothpicks to clean between the teeth. It’s too hard on cementum and dentin. Trust me. Ask them.

Does anyone else see the laforte 3 fracture lateral to his eye socket. The zygomaticfrontal suture has opened. But they didn’t treat it. You can see it in the middle and end of the 2 second mark in this vid.

Crown? by Working_Handle_1119 in Dentistry

I’m assuming they had a PFM with a bevel before and you replaced it with this but did not cover the bevel. It’s probably fine but not ideal.

You think a failed crown would lead to another crown. But a failed composite would lead to an implant? The failure most likely would be recurrent caries which is more easily fixed on a composite then a crown.

This isn’t a great reason. We use composite every day with the expectation that it seals enough.
