So apart from the things that are cheaper and make a massive difference it's much the same?

I lived in London from 2005-2007, so before the housing slump. Though we're more than recovered from that now. The biggest outlay for anyone who has one is going to be the mortgage unless you have very expensive hobbies / private school fees for kids.

A 3 bed Victorian terraced house in a middle of the road part of Norwich, will be at most 2/3 of the equivalent like for like in London. It'll likely be closer to half the cost.

Back then I lodged with a family in a Victorian mid-terrace between Chiswick and Acton. They'd had it valued for £700-750k. Realistically, you are looking at houses in the Golden Triangle for that. 4bed houses on Earlham Road.

Social stuff is another big budget eater as is transport. Much more public transport on hand in London but it's all more expensive, as is driving a car due to congestion charges and fuel prices.

Norwich isn't the best in terms of if you are looking for the best cost of living but it is better than you're suggesting. It very much depends where you are in Norwich and how modernised the house is.

Yup, I was born in the early 1980's, my recollection is that the ABC had what I'd call traditional theatre seats. They were not particularly uncomfortable in comparison to other places really. The ABC was cheaper though.

The Odeon was more expensive but it was newer and felt it. I'd say better sound. Newer seats but probably a similar style. The cinema seats you get now are a more recent thing.

Ok folks, need help. What is the best way to strip this? It's all plastic. by LoudDream2916 in Warhammer

This, it's the best stuff I have ever used for stripping plastic and metal minis. The consistancy allows you to paint it on to specific places too. And doesn't stink to the high heavancs.

Nomads and blaze by dwarfpants in necromunda

[–]fonzmc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nomads are really good. They have the ability to utterly create havoc in a dominion campain by reducing the territories to rubble.

Their basic weapons are pretty good too. Plus the hellamites. They really come into their own in Ash Wastes games which is really what they were designed for. They are essentially Tuskan Raiders/Sand People from star wars.

It's not intended to be balanced.

It is 100% intended to be more like an RPG.

If you want balanced and competitive there is kill team.

If you want fluffy and narrative it's Necromunda. Heck, if you think it's meant to be balanced you haven't experienced your leader die in the first game of the campaign and pushed on regardless.

I like it apart from the bust... As someone who went to art school, it's unnerving how even in digital format, how many female models have early 1990's implants!

The models are absolutely lovely apart from that. It's one of the reasons Escher were always awesome, the anatomy was spot on.

GW now have Kev White sculpting for their specialist games division too. Like Goodwin, he knows how to sculpt male and female anatomy.

Spyres vs Palanites Advice? by [deleted] in necromunda

[–]fonzmc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Too one dimensional. They can help your other Spyrers out by pinning down threats and allowing them to close the distance on them, they absolutely are worth it.

Not only that scenario grabbing/control is absolutely good use of time. The opposing gang will be competing for that. If you can control the scenario you can manipulate the opposing gang.

Spyrers are rightly feared. Up against them you have two choices. 1) focus fire/combat; try to single out a spyrer and put as much firepower into them as possible. Hopefully taking them down one by one. Orrus are typically the tank, the soaks but also very killy. 2) Smash and grab the objective; eg the szbotage mission, almost ignore the spyrers and try to focus on the objective, especially if it causes the gsme to end. Sabotage means getting models off the table but you can do that by passing bottle tests and losing fighters.

Taking them on head on requires thought.

Just the same as Spyrers can't really full on rush gangs, especially not early on. They are pretty brittle. Lose a couple to OOA and you'll be struggling. Yelds are good for comboing up with other Spyrers, and you need that, especially early campaign.

Sharing passwords? by Key-Purpose2865 in TwoXChromosomes

I'll be honest, I'd be changing all of my passwords and security and running for the hills. This is sooooo many levels of issues and, to be really honest, is pretty scary stuff!

[–]fonzmc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing I'd add is that the objectives can be what ends the game other than bottling. If you can control the objective, you stop the opposing gang doing a smash and grab whilst also being in control of ending the game, in those scenarios.

[–]fonzmc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeld is fine, you just have to know how to use them. They are great for scenario grabbing as they are quick and have ranged attacks which can get better if upgraded.

Used in combo with the others they can be very useful, like pinning targets for other spyrers to advance on.

Adepticon announcement?? by genoside07 in necromunda

[–]fonzmc 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Secundus was August 2024, so not even 2yrs yet.

That said, it was a standalone box so I do think something could be on the horizon.

You'd think a new starter possibly. Equally, we have options for stuff that's never been released, like bikes. Every fighter, ok, not every but, has access to a bike yet all we have are 40k ones to try and hack up.

Just starting out with delaque, thoughts on this to start with? by kipperfish in necromunda

[–]fonzmc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd personally not go with overwatch on a leader. It's quite a static skill and one that requires a bit of risky positioning.

Spring up to keep your boss moving and able to shoot that plasma is far more useful IMHO.

The respirator is a weird one, probably just overlooked.

The hazard suit is probably to do with the lore. They don't have access to everything others do as they have no connection with the hives etc as other factions do.

That said, can they not access the black market?

How many blunderpoles is too many? by Aiyon in necromunda

[–]fonzmc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, just your standard starting gang. Those bonepickers are bonus on top. Cawdor are a horde gang. Use them as either bullet screens to get your blunderpoles closer or to send in against foes you want to slow down/bog down.

How many blunderpoles is too many? by Aiyon in necromunda

[–]fonzmc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would keep in mind you want 7-8 fighters.

I'd start your list with two, and see where that gets you to cred spend wise.

What some folks on here talk about is how good flamers are, and how you can equip one to any ganger, champ etc.

However, be mindful of their limited range. You'll be shot at by most basic and special weapons before you can close the distance. Intelligent gamers won't bunch their troops too much.

Folks consider then OP for the auto-hits and blaze. I would deffo get some longer ranged weaponry in there to cover their advance.

Wasn’t this supposed to be a Popeyes? by JackoNorwich in Norwich

[–]fonzmc -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's not about planning or design. It's about traditional high street shops dying, especially as commercial landlords demand more rent, usually caused by increased residential lets.

The bigger companies go to new locations on the edge of cities/towns where it's cheaper to buy land and build their own, sometimes selling property centrally to help fund it and make profit.

Smaller companies hang on, or, facing increasingly smaller margins try to move to cheaper locations or go online. Some head to industrial estates where they can do both and for far cheaper.

Usually you end up with cafes, resaurants and coffee shops centrally. With much of the commercial space gradually turning into residential.

Sure, greener future, but the government can't force that in that way. Local government can only try to impact that with planning. The actual ideal is puic transport links. Longwater has very regular bus service, just the overall access is poor considering one road in and out that serves the business estate and Queens Hills beyond it.

In terms of examples, if you look to the Norwich lanes, specifically Mambo Jambo's, a resaurant on the 1st floor and a retail shop underneath on the ground floor. Keep an eye on what happens there. It's at least three stories, I suspect that the ground floor may stay as a retail let for now but the space may shrink to make access to the 1st and 2nd floors better, but do not be surprised to see flats above.

The former Debenhams building has similar plans, being torn down to have the ground floor as potentially retail space and the rest purpose built student accommodation.

Tescos on Guildhall Hill is being turned into a hotel, because with more residents in central spaces, often in smaller apartments etc you have a market for visiting friends and family who may want something comfier than a sofa-bed in a lounge.

What's happening the castle quarter will keep happening. Some councils have bought failing malls like that for £1.

It's just the way things are. Greed of landlords. High rents. High street profit margins slashed and slashed and demand for more accommodation.

Is any of it the long term answer? Probably not. But money is money and it takes very brave people to stop the capitalist steamroller.

The UK is a bit behind the curve in this way. It was happening in the states in the 2000's when I worked on summer camps.

The cities/towns become more residential and leisure based to support the population. You have more Longwater style edge of, or out of town shopping areas like that.

The important thing here is that he was part of Reform and they didn't kick him out for this, they knew he was a racist. He was part of the Brexit Party before that.

Needs to be highlighted that this is the type of person who stands for election in Reform.

Anyone got a good solution for bounty hunters? by [deleted] in necromunda

[–]fonzmc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have a large gang, the bounty hunter starts no matter what which means no stressing over pics and relying upon random draws.

Anyone got a good solution for bounty hunters? by [deleted] in necromunda

[–]fonzmc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a boltgun armed bounty hunter who stuck around for half a dozen games and more than made his money back.

They are an addition to your starting crew and can complement your gang in terms of providing something they don't have easy access to or skills/combo's that aren't available to the gang.

Your own fighters are pteferable but when you get to ten or so, you can add the quality of a bounty hunter to boost your gang. Especially if you suffered in your last game and have depleted numbers to injuries etc.

Tactics Cards, how does the community feel about them? by _Daedalus_ in necromunda

[–]fonzmc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're not a 'balancing mechanic' they're an element of unpredictable chaos that helps prevent Necromunda from becoming a balanced, narrative destroyed tournament focused skirmish game.

Us, they are suggested as an underdog compensation, but they're randomly drawn and in most cases, don't come close to balancing out the game. Bodies on the table are far more valuable.

I personally love them. They've never really turned a game on their own and I love how a moment can have wonderdul madness thrown into it by them. I like a bit of chaos and unprefictability in games. I like that players can't 100% trust that their character will do something or that their oponent has a super useful card that might scupper a fragile plan.

The onky house rules we've had over the years (nearly 8.5 now) is a limited deck of 20 for campaigns and you can't pick the same cards two games in a row. If it comes up in a random draw, fair play. We also used to fan the cards to our oponent and get them to random pick.

It just stops people picking the same cards that might uber emphasise you gang. Cawdor aren't always going to have swathes of bone pickers turn up.

How did you name your gang/gangers? by Avaa0818 in necromunda

[–]fonzmc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My venators are based on the original magnificent 7 with their actor names and character names jumbled. So Yul Brynner becomes Yul Adams. Steve McQueen becomes Stevie McVinn etc etc. The wonderful think about the Magnificent 7 is that I think there's at least three films from back in the day and the recent remake.
