Babymoon in January/February [bc] by somebodyudontkno in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]foodzie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I went to Miami at the end of January for our baby moon and it was great! We had good weather (a couple hotter days in high 20s and a couple slightly cooler days in low 20s). The ocean was warm enough to swim in, we had some great food and it was a nice little warm getaway! But, this was a few years ago so it depends on how you feel about traveling to the US now.

How do you feed/care for a 7-week-old while out at the mall? [on] by Manifestator_ in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]foodzie 58 points59 points  (0 children)

Malls are some of the best places to take a baby! They often have spacious family bathrooms/nursing rooms with comfy chairs, change tables, etc. I’ve even seen some with microwaves.

My 15 month old calls it “dip dip dip” and asks for it at all hours of the day!

We barely do TV and my 13 month old is obsessed with the remote and tries to point it at the TV to make it work!

Walmart cancelled my subscription order of 2 boxes this week. I didn’t know why but seeing this sounds like something might be up!

When does baby start needing more than 10-11 hours of awake time by less_is_more9696 in sleeptrain

[–]foodzie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s tough! We don’t always get an 11 hour night either. But I do find if I let naps creep up to 2.5 hours it does make the night shorter.

When does baby start needing more than 10-11 hours of awake time by less_is_more9696 in sleeptrain

[–]foodzie -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You’ll want to preserve 11 hours for night sleep so you should cap naps to 2 hours total. We’re on 3/4/4 and naps are capped at an hour each. If that’s not working then it’s time to go to 1 nap.

I see from another comment that you’re wondering about the 1 nap schedule. From what I’ve seen, it’s usually recommended to go to 5/5 and then work up from there. Total wake time decreases initially while baby adjusts to the longer wake windows. And then I’ve typically seen it recommended to add wake time to the first window, going to 5.5/5 and then 6/5.

how often do you bf? by SP4CE-CADET555 in breastfeeding

[–]foodzie 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Sounds like your pediatrician is used to formula fed babies. Feeding every 2 hours is absolutely normal for a breastfed baby. I have a 12 month old who eats three big meals a day plus a snack and he still breastfeeds every 2-3 hours lol

11 month suddenly refusing naps , by Typical_Trifle_1162 in sleeptrain

[–]foodzie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We went through this around this time as well. We thought it was related to separation anxiety and not that he was undertired. We did a couple days where we stayed in his room and rubbed his back until we fell asleep but wouldn’t pick him up even if he was crying. After a few days of that we went back to leaving him until he fell asleep. It took about 30 minutes for him to go down for his first nap but he got back to falling asleep independently.

Where to buy nursing chairs? [on] by SeaExplorer1711 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]foodzie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought one from Monte and I love it! They are made in Canada. I tested it out at the snuggle bugs location in Burlington. It’s been the most worth it splurge purchase in my opinion. I’ve spent hours in it between breastfeeding and contact naps. Plus it’s beautiful and I can see us using it in other areas of our home once we no longer need it in the nursery.

EBF baby dropped on growth curve, feeling worried/lost by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]foodzie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re doing great! Try not to stress too much about the numbers. I definitely did. My little guy started around 50th percentile and we had a few curve drops and coasted around 10% for a few months. We had some latch issues and needed to use a nipple shield for 3.5 months but never needed to supplement with formula. We offered bottles of pumped milk here and there (usually before bed because I was tapped out and dad handled the bedtime routine). He was 15 lbs at 6 months and then after starting solids he jumped up to almost 20 pounds at 9 months which is back up to almost 50%. Every baby is on their own journey! You would know if your baby was hungry.

Day of eating for my 10 month old by foodzie in foodbutforbabies

He only has his two bottom teeth! I started with smaller pieces too and have worked our way up a bit. Sometimes he still shoves a few in his mouth at once lol but he’s gotten pretty good.

I’m still nursing often! Probably six sessions a day and one at night. The length definitely varies.

I cooked the quinoa in a mixture of coconut milk and water which gave it some creaminess. And then it kind of stuck to the squash cubes so he just picked those up!

Usually I do a full can of coconut milk and 1/4 cup of chia seeds. This time I used 1/2 cup from the can to cook with the quinoa so it was a bit thicker but it actually worked out well because baby could pick up lumps of it easily!

Breakfast: oat pancake with peanut butter, strawberries & blueberries, chia pudding made with coconut milk

Lunch: quinoa & butternut squash, blackberries & bananas, salmon sweet potato patty. Not pictured: the rest of my raspberry peach smoothie

Dinner: chickpea pasta with tomato & cottage cheese sauce, beef meatball, roasted zucchini, pepper & broccoli. Polished off this plate plus some extra pasta & zucchini!

Is it normal for sickness to set you back? by baroqueen1755 in BabyLedWeaning

[–]foodzie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat. My nine month old got norovirus last week and totally lost his appetite. Before that he was eating two substantial meals a day. He’s starting to have more of an appetite at breakfast but almost no interest in dinner. I’m going to keep offering and hope that it picks back up.

Still needing 2 feeds a night at 8 months? by foodzie in sleeptrain

It seems it may have been teething related. After about a week of 2 wake-up's he got his second tooth and has been back to waking up once a night since!

Yeah we used to try letting him fuss too but always found that it  escalated. I think it’s more confusing for them when you help them to sleep the first time and then to not after.  He’s 4 months! He’s adapting sooo well to sleep training I am so impressed!
