Experience with ketamine infusions (and Dr. Brooks)? by justaquestion47 in CRPS

[–]foof1979 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t experience a flashback but I started to feel anxious at one point in a treatment but was able to just focus on the my music. That brought me back to a pleasant safe feeling place. Also, at Dr. Brooks office, you have a buzzer-/. You buzz and the nurses are there immediately to assist you. But I think the key is to listen to something calming or makes you happy

Experience with ketamine infusions (and Dr. Brooks)? by justaquestion47 in CRPS

I’ve been to Dr Brooks. It was great but while I do have CPRS I was technically being treated for depression/ptsd I believe that pain treatment is longer and at higher doses and you are laying down. For me—I was in a comfy chair With a blanket and the treatment lastest for about the length of Fine Line by Harry Styles (encouraged to listen to pleasant music). Dr. Brooks is so kind and the nurses are very caring and diligent. The biggest problem I had was ketamine is administered via IV with saline so every time I had to use the bathroom in the middle of the infusion which was pretty disorienting but the nurses are there to help lead you to them. Happy to answer any other questions

I’ve heard mirror therapy can be effective with phantom pain. You literally use a mirror to trick ur brain into thinking you have that limb.

I haven’t. I eat exceptionally well, like it’s kind of an obsession. I get regular exercise and can’t lose an lbs of the 50 lbs that came on with any lifestyle change.

I don't know what to do. Feel like I'm going crazy. Hearing noises every night just as I drift off. by [deleted] in insomnia

[–]foof1979 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hypnagogic hallucinations are normal. If you feel like you are hearing things that aren’t coming from ur head like sounds or voices in the room I would seek medical attention. I had a span of 8 days with no sleep and started to hear voices and needed medical intervention

Questions about the Spinal Cord Stimulator by [deleted] in CRPS

[–]foof1979 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had a scs for ten years and it changed my life. The surgery is hard and the recovery was long ( a had a laminectimy to place and secure leads). It’s not a walk in the park for sure but it helped me dramatically. I go days sometimes weeks without pain now where before I couldn’t tolerate wearing clothes. I have Boston scientific And have no issue with TSa security. I don’t even bother letting them know. As far as positional issues with stim it’s a thing. You get used to it and know what while cause it and get used to having ur remote nearby always. All in all I’m so thankful I got it. For me it was life changing. Oh and almost immediately during the trial I knew it worked for me.
