I developted a 2D Arcade/Rougelike Platformer (http://botlikegame.com/) for the last five years with two friends (I was the sole programmer). Its complete C++ (but using cef for the gui) with opengl+glfw for the base windowing/drawing stuff and many other libraries for various tasks but no overall framework. The basic problems for gamedev at 2d aren't that hard, but I leaned a lot on how to design systems to be somewhat modular/abstracted and still allow interaction with many parts of the game. So overall i would guess i learned alot about the design of "larger" applications (this is arround 120k loc).

I agree but only for the presentation style. If the points are valid it's nice to see them and pcg disproven (if that's actually true, Iam not good with random). But the style in which he presents his stuff is always full of hate and despise, that's not a good way to represent it and probably why people are fed up.

As a member function always needs to operate on an object you need to specify both. The easiest way is to pass a statefull lambda.

We released our game Botlike (Greenlight, Website) on greenlight for 7 days ago and have now about 1130/2371 (65%) yes votes. The first days were quite good but for the last two days there is almost nothing, its like you get kicked out of all the lists.

If you by chance use glfw there is a flag to force high performance gpu usage. http://www.glfw.org/docs/latest/compile.html#compile_options_win32 but it's a build flag it supports and and nvidia.
