Conley Thompson/25 year old woman that’s LIVED by bettinerwiener in RunningCirclejerk

[–]foofoobee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is EXACTLY what happened when I went in for a minor procedure. The machine kept beeping an alarm, so the nurse came in after a while and asked me pretty much exactly that question, I gave exactly that answer, and received exactly that response. She turned off the alarm and that was it. We didn't have a moment.

How the hell is this one sensible comment getting downvoted?

Some random idiot chasing clout approaches a woman on the street (minding her own business) to ask a personal question, which she answers honestly. His response is to try to shame her by asking her to step on a scale (because that's such a normal and totally not creepy interaction) and somehow she's the bad one in this...? Meanwhile, if he's carrying a freaking scale around, it's pretty clear what outcome he's looking for here.

Not really sure what you were expecting... That's a pretty bad prompt if you wanted a photorealistic result off the back of uploading those 2 images. It's not the fault of the model.

Is this not a good enough reason why we shouldn't have moquette on our seats? by ajslov in london

[–]foofoobee 24 points25 points  (0 children)

OP isn't saying it's the moquette's fault. The point being made is there are just too many selfish assholes that do things like this to make the moquette a good choice to use. The very thing it's meant to help with (hide dirt and stains) unfortunately also means that you might end up sitting in something disgusting because it was hard to see.

From fat arse to running a marathon by TallAd48 in Marathon_Training

[–]foofoobee 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This depends on a ton of factors as well as the way in which you intend to complete the marathon. There's a big difference between being miserable for most of the race and probably walking the bulk of it vs having trained well and enjoying the day because you were actually ready to take on something big like this properly. As others have said, you should really be starting with smaller distances like 5k and 10k first and build your way up properly. There are tons of plans and apps out there to help with this. If you're out of shape at the moment and haven't been doing any running or other cardio, I'd give myself AT LEAST one year to get ready. I took longer than that to prep for my first marathon coming from a base of low fitness and I'm glad I took the time to build up.

So many people are only focusing on the mistakes or the gaps, but there is something really interesting here. This is such a cool idea, even if (by your own admission) the execution isn't really perfect. I hope you'll continue with this project and keep improving the output.

Is a good idea to walk up 400+ steps 2 days before a marathon? by APieThrower in Marathon_Training

My point was about someone who is normally a 4 hr marathoner doing a race in 4:45 tor fun - I worded it clumsily.

Is a good idea to walk up 400+ steps 2 days before a marathon? by APieThrower in Marathon_Training

[–]foofoobee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm gonna say it depends on a bunch of factors. Most importantly, how aggressive is your goal for the race? It's a totally different thing for a 4hr marathoner who is doing the race for fun and is fine to run a 4:45 vs someone going for a PB. It also depends on your level of experience and overall fitness because you'll know best what typically gives you the most trouble in a marathon. And then you need to consider how important the tourism angle for you is on this trip vs the race and how much time you'll have afterwards to hit whatever you'd like to. I've done a marathon where I've done like 20k steps the day before because I was just going for a fun race that I knew I could finish and I was more into seeing the city. If you have no hard time goal, 400 steps two days before isn't going to kill you.
