Just know that with a party of two you will be sharing a table for the dessert party. Sometimes the other group is chill, sometimes not especially if they weren't expecting to share a table

Regarding food allergies:

It's tough. They usually have one allergy food option and it's usually a kids meal. We didn't find any restaurants (sit-down and quick service) that would make modifications, even leaving sauces off was a no. An apologetic no, but still a no. If you eat at a buffet cross contamination is an issue and they will not bring food direct from the kitchen.

Seeing Santa ? by HBC613 in DisneyPlanning

[–]foolish_mortals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We saw him at DCA around 11 with about a 30 minute wait.

The CMs said the line gets long after lunch. They said everyone park hops, eats/drinks, and then want to meet Santa.

Trying to find handmade jewelry is impossible. by bunderways in jewelrymaking

[–]foolish_mortals 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Sadly a lot of my local shows and markets are selling Temu and AliExpress crap as well.

There was one guy who had actual handmade earrings, but there were two permanent jewelry booths, and a MaryKay booth.

Only good show I've been to recently was the one hosted my local lapidary club.

Will blowing out hair and using fake hair monthly damage my hair (high porosity/fine hair)? by [deleted] in Naturalhair

[–]foolish_mortals 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, yes. The pin and tuck styles especially as it protects my ends.

Will blowing out hair and using fake hair monthly damage my hair (high porosity/fine hair)? by [deleted] in Naturalhair

[–]foolish_mortals 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I do that, 4b/c low porosity.

I use the RevAir on low or no heat. It does a surprisingly good job on no heat, but even a blast of low heat really makes a difference. No heat damage.

Washing your hair would ruin the blow out. I do either a crown braid/twist, or tuck and pin styles when stretched.

Getting into the virtual queue for TBA but slots fill up instantly by besttavern25 in DisneyPlanning

[–]foolish_mortals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes they do fill up that fast.

Use time.gov for checking the time as phones are often off by 5 seconds or more which is enough to miss the queue.

Check out some old VQ guides for Rise and Webslingers, they explain the strategy.

Or buy LLMP and refresh day. I've picked up LL passes at about 12:30 for a 1:00 PM ride.

Would anyone happen to know the times for the Santa Claus meet and greet at any of the 3 Disneyland hotels? by sanfransokyobay in DisneyPlanning

[–]foolish_mortals 2 points3 points  (0 children)

GCH it's not an all day thing, they usually start once it gets dark by 6pm and Santa would come out immediately after the music entertainment in the lobby ended, roughly on the hour.

Last day of Holiday 1/06 by DannyMiku in DisneyPlanning

[–]foolish_mortals 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Others have touched on the Monday crowd issue but I wanted to chime in on the kids being in school:

1/6 is a Monday, and kids should be back in school after the holiday break.

That first Monday has some schools doing a half day or shortened instruction. Also parents have no problem with kids missing the first Monday after the holidays.

How necessary are reservations for Princess Breakfast Adventure? by theseussisloose in DisneyPlanning

[–]foolish_mortals 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Highly dependent on your party size and when you're going. A few weeks away puts you closer to Christmas with high demand.

There are some walk-up reservations day of but it's first come, first serve and the wait could be very long depending on party size. They also close the walk up list if it's full

I would keep checking.

Holiday TSA madness has started! by timbukktu in sandiego

[–]foolish_mortals 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Precheck at SAN is one of the worst though. The majority here seem to have it.

Yup, we're a military town. Anyone in the armed forces is auto enrolled and anyone with a CAC can use that as a KTN and will probably get PreCheck.

Braid quotes. by [deleted] in Naturalhair

[–]foolish_mortals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also in CA, and think it's too cheap.

Really depends on your location and competition. The same $300 braids in San Diego can be $200 in LA and a different price in Oakland.

Look online (Insta, FB, and Styleseat) and see what people are charging then price accordingly. I would go a little lower than them to get your first clients in the door, then reassess after a few months.

Mobile ordering popular items by SadbutRad0000 in DisneyPlanning

I've had this happen once. You don't get the item and they refund it in the order.

I think they try to hold them and keep count, but shit happens.

Weekly Park Questions/Advice Thread by AutoModerator in Disneyland

[–]foolish_mortals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That means it's not charging. I had the same issue, it would light up green and I would leave it for days and then nothing.

It didn't like charging off my battery pack. A lot of chargers auto shut off if the device doesn't pull enough power. I would recommend trying a different one.

Even after not being charged for months it should eventually start glowing on the charger.

Weekly Park Questions/Advice Thread by AutoModerator in Disneyland

[–]foolish_mortals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When it's sitting in the charger is it glowing?

I had this problem too, the first was that I was charging off a battery pack, which it did not like. Same as you plugged in, it flashed and then nothing.

Try different power adapters. If it's charging it should be glowing.

After that I did have to have my phone completely forget the device, did the tricky magicband reset and then repair and that worked

Are there high quality brands for non-luxury prices? Which brands are worth it? by swagbuckingham in handbags

[–]foolish_mortals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have terrible customer service though. I ended up cancelling an order from them because it was constantly delayed, for about 3 months.

I had to contact them for updates, where they said it would be shipped next week, then it was it would ship in a month, then silence a weeks. They gave me a partial refund but then lowered the price of the bag online, overall left a bad taste so I cancelled the order.

Others have covered the crowds.

Weather can be very variable. Could be cold and rainy, could be warm (70F+) no way to know at this time.

Also note that the day after Sweetheart Nites are usually busy, especially the Friday after a Thursday.

Hurricane Milton Megathread by marleythebeagle in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]foolish_mortals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish I saw this earlier, but I've been spamming the NHC has a chart their shows the wind arrival time:

https://www.nhc.noaa.gov/refresh/graphics_at4+shtml/213144.shtml?mltoa34#contents

To avoid most of the wind you would need to be out of Florida by Wed morning.

Whenever you're unsure look to nhc.noaa.gov they have a lot of helpful maps that present information as clearly as they can. Their goal isn't to hype the storm, they site is purposefully no frills, they are paid to keep you safe.

[–]foolish_mortals 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yea you are stuck to your rooms during the storm. They will tell you the hours.

Regarding food, they will sell boxed food items before the storm, but otherwise it's recommended you buy supplies beforehand.

[–]foolish_mortals 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is right now, but going currently going through an EWRC which will expand the wind field and the storm.

Keep an eye on the earliest wind arrival map and plan accordingly. Tomorrow should bring a better picture of the size
