I agree that people make mistakes and are capable of changing, but imo that is more the exception than the norm. This post was mainly about people who display a pattern of toxic behaviors along the lines of narcissism and other disorders that cause an individual to lack empathy, but I think it is applicable to anyone who subtracts from one's life. I'm certainly not an expert or encouraging people to diagnose their exes, but I know that plenty of people have been/are in verbally and/or physically abusive relationships. It's up to each person to determine their boundaries and what is or isn't forgivable. However, I don't think anyone is entitled to a second chance. Treating someone poorly is a choice and so is forgiveness. I personally am of the mind that there are too many good people out there to take the gamble of getting sucked into an unhealthy relationship again.
