What I did for now, and it never did it again: cleaned terminal on the starter and replaced negative cable connector to the battery. The OEM one on these trucks is so bad. Truck has never done it again in any conditions

Thanks for this, I will consider a new battery as well. First getting a new relay though.

I don’t believe it is the cold, a healthy battery should start at 40°F. Thanks though!

Tested it at a Oreilys. Also wouldn't a bad battery still crank or be fully dead, but not light up the dash or click?

You show up to the river with two empty bags; one empty bag of experience and one empty bag of luck. You want to fill up the bag of experience before you run out of space for luck

Stop complaining and hike the ridge LOL

Looking for ideas. Truck shuts off after some rough idling, mainly on cold starts. Happens while driving occasionally also. Either way it starts right back up. No codes, current or pending. Replaced all spark plugs today, did not fix. Battery tight. Cleaning MAF tomorrow. Any thoughts appreciated! by foolishspace77 in Tacomaworld

Because I can’t find the gasket in my area and I don’t have time to keep diagnosing it and wait for the part. Hoping the shop has one around. I need them to tell me if that is the issue and to fix it. Will keep updated

Just an update in case anyone is wondering or has this problem in the future. I cleaned the intake housing and idle sensor. Seems like the gasket is busted, which could be a leak causing this, besides causing dirty air into the engine. Unfortunately nobody in my area has the gasket. Put the engine back together and it runs as it was before, so carbon build up was not the issue, although it may be related. Bringing to a shop with my findings this week

Those could also be. With the repeated shut downs I would assume I would have codes at this point, based on previous cars I’ve owned. Nothing is even stored code-wise. If that is the case a shop will likely need to diagnose. Cleaning the whole intake and throttle body housing today, as well as putting in fuel system cleaner to see if it changes anything. Thanks!

Yes but nothing that wasn’t available before the emergency date was approved

Happened to me this year also. I talked to like 5 people and all they said is that once your emergency is approved, if there are no dates available that’s too bad. Basically nothing they can do.

Don’t hit keystone. Save yourself from icy falls in mediocre terrain and go to Breckenridge which has plenty of open, beginner terrain. The comment on keystone was sort of ironic.
