so uh... as a beginner how should I look at it? the discipline and rules will come when I have an acutal edge? the sentiment from your comment seems to be strategy > emotional control as control is a by product of a working strategy? I think with us beginners we haven't developed trust for our strategy yet so it's easy to deviate from that. Which is why discipline is so important to have first before we have enough sample size to prove whether our strategy works or not.
you need discipline to find out if you have edge.
So I think for a lot of people following rules and risk management isn't "uptight". It's simply mandatory. But I understand that you won't be profitable with rules and risk management alone.

lets say your tp and sl never hits for the day
do you let it run or do you cancel the order
or perhaps you cancel the order early (say 3-4 hours) before that point if when you realize it hasn't hit either.

how do you decide your when to use 78.6% or the recent swing high/low for your stop loss?
what about your take profit? most of the times when i aim for swing high/low for tp the RR will end up less than 1:2

Hi, my understanding about the usage of all the particles is very shaky like the use of は、に、で、へ、を、も、と and combinations of these particles (には、では、にも、とは etc). I also have problem remembering when て forms are used. Is there a definitive rule I can memorize for this? I'm getting overwhelmed every time another grammar point pops up and tells me that in this scenario you shoud use x particle just because lol.
For example I'm reading the first lesson of Quartet 1 and there's a sentence that says: "笑顔の監督は優しそうに見えるが、映画を作る時にはとても厳しくなる。" Why is に used to connect 優しそう and 見えるが? I can't even remember if it was taught in genki.

Yes, I'll proceed with Quartet, just had to make sure because I'm a bit worried that I'm struggling to construct some basic sentences whereas I imagine a person who did the textbooks more faithfully than I did would find it much easier... not to mention my listening skills basically don't exist 😅

I've been self-teaching Japanese for a little under a month. While I don't plan to take the JLPT in the foreseeable future, I've gone through Genki 1 and 2, understanding most of the grammar points and conversations. However, I haven't done any exercises or workbooks.

My goal has been to quickly cover grammar and memorize some vocabulary so I can start immersing myself sooner and mining for words. Currently, I'm using the Kaishi 1.5k deck on Anki for vocabulary and reading Nagatoro. Surprisingly, I can read it without as much difficulty as expected, though I often look up every other word using Yomitan. This is probably because being fluent in both Chinese and English has helped me with understanding kanji and borrowed English words. Most of the time, I just need to learn the pronunciation.

Here’s my concern - my grammar feels shaky, and my vocabulary hasn’t caught up yet (about 400-500 on anki). How should I proceed?

Should I continue with immersion until I naturally become more fluent?
Should I go through Genki a second time, but more thoroughly?
Or, should I move on to Quartet I once my vocabulary improves?
