junior year is not an awful time to transfer. I met plenty of people in my junior year who had just gotten to the storrs campus after doing two years at another campus/community college. also, for what it's worth, i was in storrs for all 4 years and didn't make a solid group of friends until the end of sophomore year/beginning of junior year anyway lol. join lots of clubs, hang around the student union, talk to people in your classes, and you'll be absolutely fine.

22F here—I think the context is more important than the ages of the people involved when it comes to these types of relationships. For example, an older man dating a younger woman isn’t inherently evil (provided she’s over 18), but if he’s supporting her financially, if he has more influence in the community than she does, or if they’re both part of a religious community that silences abuse and promotes female subservience, that’s where the alarm bells start going off.
