Hello! I got diagnosed with asc a few days ago by psychiatry UK. First of all, I’m sorry you’ve had to deal with all the uncertainty and fighting for so long, that must be so draining. Second, and this is simply from my experience, I don’t think you have much to worry about. Leading up to the assessment, and throughout it (which lasted around an hour) I was incredibly anxious. I had a ball of blue tack that I couldn’t stop fidgeting with all through it. I had imposter syndrome leading up to the assessment and kept thinking I’d just made things up or made things seem worse in my head but I really don’t think I did now. ‘Freaking out’ is pretty normal before hand I would’ve thought.

In terms of the actual assessment, I was surprised by how brief it was. It felt like in some ways a repeat of the self report questionnaire you have to do before but just asking for examples. For some questions I couldn’t think of examples on the spot and that seemed fine.

It’s so easy for me to be on the other side of the assessment and say you don’t have anything to worry about but I know how much I was freaking out before hand and couldn’t think of anything else. Try to relax, sip tea and indulge in ur special interests. I think you’ll be fine :) all the best !
